The ask the sky settings
settings › "ask the sky" — "the ai in this app" — sets up ask the sky, the Journal's built-in AI assistant.
The page
| row | what it does | starts |
|---|---|---|
| "zenith ai in this app" | the switch for ask the sky here. Its line: "off hides the ai button in the corner — and other zenith apps can no longer act on this journal." | on |
| "let the sky do things that cannot be undone" | the safety switch for actions that can't be taken back. Shows while "zenith ai in this app" is on. See Things it asks first | off |
| "who answers" | words naming the tulpa who answers: "cielo answers here. she comes with the suite itself, so she is the same tulpa in every zenith app — with or without zenith ai installed." | — |
| "the service", the key and "model" | which AI service answers, under your own key — see below | — |
| "sent with your yes" | the AI companies you have said yes to sending your words to — see below | none |
| "what it may do" | every action the sky has, ⚠ on those that can't be undone, and the settings it can change by name. With the AI off: "nothing." | — |
| "what it remembers" | "the sky remembers your talks" (Gold), and "burn them all" | off |
| "safety" | "replies are ai-generated — verify what matters.", and "safety ›". See AI safety — Zenith Guard & consent | — |
The AI switch
If the suite's AI is off in Zenith Launcher, the page says so: it is off here too, whatever "zenith ai in this app" says. Each time you come back to the journal it checks again, so the AI button shows or hides to match.
The service, the key and the model
Ask the sky answers through a service you choose, with your own key.
- "the service" — one chip per service: "claude (anthropic)", "openai (gpt)", "gemini (google)", "grok (xai)", "deepseek", "groq", "mistral", "openrouter (many models)", "together ai" and "on-device (gemini nano)". A ✓ follows one whose key is saved. Choosing one clears the model.
- On-device — needs no key and sends nothing off the phone, so it has no key chips. It works only on phones that carry Google's on-device model; on any other phone each ask is answered "on-device ai isn't available on this phone — choose another service in settings · ask the sky".
- The key — "get … key ↗" opens the service's own page to make one; "paste" saves what is on the clipboard and says "key saved", or "key saved — the whole suite shares it"; "test" says "✓ key works" or what went wrong; "remove" deletes it. You can also type it into the field.
- "model" — typed by name. Left empty, the service's own default is used, and a line names it and the others offered.
When no key is saved: "no key is saved for this service yet, so nothing can be asked." The key is typed once for the whole suite. See Shared keys & connected accounts and Ask the Sky across the suite.
Sent with your yes
The first time the sky would send your words to an AI company, it asks first. Until then the page says "nothing has gone to an ai company yet. the first time the sky would send your words to one, it asks first."
Once you have said yes, each company is listed with "withdraw", and there is "withdraw all". The next send to that company then asks again. On-device never asks, because nothing leaves the phone. See Ask the sky in the Journal.
What it remembers (Gold)
"the sky remembers your talks", with a ✦ until Gold is owned; without journal gold a tap opens the Gold sheet on "the sky remembers your talks". On, the sky remembers your last ten talks; off, every ask stands alone. The same switch is the ✦ / ✧ button on the sheet.
Your talks with the sky are kept on this phone, at most fifty, so you can read them back — whether the switch is on or off. The other Zenith apps on this phone can read them too. The line under it says so: "N exchanges, kept on this phone — the other zenith apps here can read them too. yours to empty." — or, with nothing asked, "nothing asked yet. what you ask is kept on this phone — at most fifty exchanges — so you can read it back. the other zenith apps here can read it too."
"burn them all" empties them after a second tap, free, Gold or not, and the copy the other Zenith apps read is emptied with them.
The safety page
"safety ›" opens settings › "safety". Besides "⚑ report a reply", "the log" ("↗ export the log", "clear the history") and "blocks", it shows "the guard's record" — the suite guard's own record, on this phone, of what it blocked and what was reported:
- With nothing in it: "the guard has blocked nothing and nothing has been reported on this phone." Otherwise how many, such as "2 blocks and 1 report, kept on this phone.". It keeps the last 14 days.
- "↗ export the guard's record" — when there is anything, hands it to the phone's share sheet as "the-guards-record.txt".
- "clear the guard's record" — the first tap turns it into "tap again — it goes for good"; the second clears it and says "the guard's record is empty". The phrases the guard learned from reports are not cleared with it.
Ask the sky can't export or clear the guard's record; both are your taps. See AI safety — Zenith Guard & consent.
Not on this page
- Lenses — on the sheet's lens button, when Zenith AI is installed.
- Read aloud — the 🔊 on the sheet.
See Ask the sky in the Journal.
What stays yours
The AI switches, "let the sky do things that cannot be undone", the service, the model, the key, your yes in "sent with your yes" and the guard's record are never the sky's to change.
