Share a commitment

How-to

A commitment — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — leaves its page through ↗ "take it elsewhere", in the bottom-right corner. It can go as a line of text, a task in Zenith Tasks, an item on the Shuttle — the suite's shared tray for passing text and files between Zenith apps — or a small card file.

Choose how it goes

  1. Open the commitment's page.
  2. Tap ↗ "take it elsewhere", bottom right.
  3. Pick one of up to four rows:
RowWhat happens
"↗ share"Builds the commitment's share line, puts it on the Shuttle, and opens the phone's share sheet with it.
"→ zenith tasks"Hands the title, the notes and a link back to this commitment to Zenith Tasks, to become a task there. Shown only when Zenith Tasks is installed and answers.
"⇪ hold in the shuttle"Puts the commitment on the Shuttle.
"⊐ send it as a card"Opens the card sheet, below.

The share line is one line of text: a ✦, the title in lower case, the day, then "zenith calendar" and the commitment's own link. A Zenith app that receives the line can open the commitment. For a repeating one, the day is the day the page is showing, not the day it was first written.

From the brief. Hold a row in the brief — the list of a day's commitments along the bottom of the screen — for its menu. There, "↗ share" opens the share sheet only. It does not also put the line on the Shuttle. "⇪ hold in the shuttle" on the same menu does that, with the notice "held in the shuttle".

Send it as a card

A card is one commitment as its own small document, a .zcc file — the way a calendar app hands you one. Cards are free, not Gold.

  1. Tap "⊐ send it as a card". The sheet reads "send “‹title›” as a card".
  2. If the commitment carries material — files attached to it — choose how they go. The three choices are in the table below.
  3. Check the size — "that makes it ‹size›" — which changes as you choose.
  4. Tap "· save it ·" to pick where to save it, or "· to the shuttle ·" to put it on the Shuttle. "· not now ·" closes the sheet.
ChoiceWhat goes
"without materials"The card alone. Its files stay on this phone. This is chosen at first.
"with .zen"The files go in a .zen file beside the card, in a folder you pick.
"remote .zen"The files go on your Google Drive, and the card carries their link. Anyone who receives the card can open those materials. This needs a linked Google account; without one, the sheet says what it needs.

With no files, the sheet says "this one carries no material." If the card cannot be made, it says so.

People. The sheet does not mention who joins the commitment, but the card carries them. Every name goes as a plain name, with no contact link, because a link points to a contact on this phone. On another phone, the names arrive as plain names.

Opening a card. It asks "place “‹title›” on…" one of your almanacs — your calendars, each a named, coloured layer of commitments — or "make a new almanac for it".
