The tutorial sky & demo content
Tasks can put two kinds of sample on the phone, only when you ask. The tutorial sky is "a sky whose tasks teach the moves" — "✦ Learn Zenith Tasks". Demo content lets you "explore someone else's sky": skies, talismans, archived tasks and templates. They are separate. You can have either, both or neither.
A fresh install opens on an empty sky, "my tasks". Neither sample is there until you ask for it.
Ask for them on the welcome card
The first time you open Tasks, "welcome to zenith tasks" shows four tips, then two switches, both off:
- "show me the tutorial sky"
- "load demo content"
Then "you can add or remove these later in settings › files." Tap "start". It puts the welcome away and adds what you switched on. Closing the card any other way adds neither.
With both on, the tutorial is the one you see first.
Add them later
Open settings › "files". Under "samples":
- "add the tutorial sky" — "a sky whose tasks teach the moves · doesn't count toward free limits"
- "add demo content" — "explore someone else's sky · doesn't count toward free limits"
Adding closes settings and shows the new sky. The sky you were on is saved first. If it can't be added, you see "couldn't add that".
- The tutorial opens as a sky of its own beside yours.
- Demo content puts each of its skies on the phone — open beside yours, or under "saved on this phone" if it came closed — and adds its talismans to the talismans page, its retired tasks to the archive and its templates to templates. You are switched to the first open demo sky.
While one is on the phone, its row reads "remove the tutorial sky" or "remove demo content".
Use them like any sky
You can complete, move and add tasks in them like any sky. Ask the sky sees them like any open sky.
They don't count toward free limits
- Neither the tutorial sky nor demo skies count toward the 3 skies you can have open without Zenith Gold. A closed one opens again even when you're at 3.
- The demo's talismans don't count toward the 3 free ones.
- On the skies page their cards wear a small "tutorial" or "demo" tag, and under "saved on this phone" they show "· tutorial" or "· demo" after the name.
- Without Gold the count takes in only your own skies, adding "· tutorial & demo skies don't count" while one is open — for example, "open · 1 of 3 · tutorial & demo skies don't count".
See The skies page.
They stay quiet
A time reminder, a place reminder or a weather trigger in the tutorial sky or a demo sky never rings, even while the sky is open.
Remove them
Tap "remove the tutorial sky" or "remove demo content". It asks first — "remove the tutorial sky?" or "remove the demo content?".
- If you haven't added tasks of your own to it: "it comes off this phone. you can add it again in settings › files." Tap "remove" or "never mind".
- If you have: "you added tasks of your own to it. they'll go too — save the sky as a file first from the skies page." Tap "remove", "open skies" or "never mind". "open skies" takes you to the skies page, where the sky's ⋯ has "save as a file (.zts)". Changing or completing the tasks it came with doesn't count as adding.
"remove" takes every tutorial sky, or every demo sky, off the phone, open or saved, with its reminders. Removing the demo also takes away the talismans, archived tasks and templates it brought — only those, never your own. You see "removed the tutorial sky" or "removed the demo content".
Your own skies are never touched. If only the tutorial or demo skies were open, a fresh empty "my tasks" sky opens first, since one sky always stays open.
Backups
"back up everything (.zbak)" keeps which skies are the tutorial or demo skies, and restoring puts them back as they were. A sky you open from a file is always one of your own, never the tutorial or a demo sky. See Save, open & back up.
What ask the sky can do
It can switch to them, reopen one from "saved on this phone" — even at the limit — rename one, close one, and work the demo's talismans, archive and templates like your own. It can delete one, which takes it off the phone, only while "allow destructive actions" is on, and it still asks you each time. It can open settings › "files" for you.
It can't add the tutorial or the demo content. That is your own tap. See What the sky can do — skies, settings & more.
