The list
The list is the same journal in words: every entry still out, newest day first. It is also how the sky reads with a screen reader. Tap "list" in the header to open it.
The top
- The journal picker — "all journals ▾", or the name of the journal shown. Tap it for "all journals" and every journal by name with its count; a ✓ marks the one shown. Beside it, "· 1 entry" or "· N entries".
- Search — "⌕ search your words, tags and files". See Search & narrow the list.
- A year ago today — a box, "a year ago today · …", with up to three of last year's entries from this date. It shows only when nothing is narrowed.
The days
Each day has a header — "thursday · september 17 2026" — and under it the moon in words, such as "☾ first quarter". With "the day's sun" on, sunrise and sunset sit beside it, such as "☉ 6:52a – 7:14p". The sun is set in settings › "the journal" › "the day's sun" — "sunrise and sunset in the list"; until it can show, each day shows its moon alone.
A line
Each line shows the time ("9:40p"), the entry's star, its title ("not written yet" when blank) and its first words.
Tap a line to unfold it in place; tap again to fold it. Unfolded, it shows where it came from, its journals (or "loose"), "◍" and its place, then its words, its "#tags" and "▤" its files. Under them:

Ways in, narrowed
- A star's card › "its journal in the list" opens the list narrowed to that journal.
- A row in insights opens it narrowed to what the row counts.
- "◌ <subject>" under "also about" in the reader narrows it to that subject, and closes the reader and whatever it was opened from, so back works as it does on the list. See The reader.
Back
Back first closes an entry's ⋯ menu or the ✛ choices if one is open, then clears the search and the journal; the next back goes home.
When there's nothing
- No entries: "no entries yet. place a star in the sky, or write one with ✛."
- Nothing matching: "nothing matches. back clears the search and filters."
Entries put away in the reliquary are not listed.
