What you fill in, material & place

How-to

A commitment — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — can carry three extras: a small form to fill in, material — attached files that several commitments can share — and a place pinned on a map. You add the first two from ⊕ "expand" on the commitment's page, and the place from the editor.

Build a form to fill in

This is the part you tick, slide, choose and date, not the part you read. Most commitments have none. The sheet itself says to add a line only when there is something to fill in.

  1. Open the commitment's page and tap ⊕ "expand".
  2. Tap "⊕ what to fill in". The sheet "WHAT YOU FILL IN · ‹name›" opens on its "build" tab.
  3. Tap "⊕ add a line", then choose "▾ what kind of line?": "tick box", "short entry", "slider", "choice", "date" or "note".
  4. Write its words. A slider also takes "from" and "to". A choice takes its options, with "⊕ another choice" for more. A note is for reading, not filling in.
  5. Use ▴ and ▾ to move a line, and ✕ to remove one.
  6. Tap "preview" to see the section exactly as the page will draw it. What you tap in the preview is not kept.
  7. Tap "keep". Lines with no words are not kept, and the sheet tells you first.

Removing a line that already holds an answer asks "take “‹line›” out?" — "take it out" or "undo".

On the page, the section is headed "what you fill in", and you answer it there. Your answers are kept wherever the commitment lives. A section you built always shows. One an AI made shows only while ask the sky — the calendar's built-in AI assistant — is on. It reads "✦ made by the sky — ai-generated · verify what matters". Tap "⚑" to report it in one tap. The report is kept in a log on the phone.

Attach material

Material is the handout, the chapter, the ticket. The files belong to the almanac — one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — and the commitment points at them. So several commitments can share one file.

  1. Open the commitment's page and tap ⊕ "expand".
  2. Tap "⊕ material". The sheet "MATERIAL · ‹title›" opens.
  3. Tap "⊕ add a file" and pick any file up to 256 MB. Or tap a "⊐ from the shuttle · ‹name›" row to take a file riding the Shuttle — the suite's shared tray for passing text and files between Zenith apps.

You can add material only to a commitment that already exists, never while writing a new one. A file dropped from the Shuttle onto a day also becomes material. An empty sheet reminds you that anything you add travels with the almanac when you share it.

On the page, each file shows as "❍ ‹file›" with its size. Tap it to open it.

Removing a file. Tap ✕. It asks "remove “‹name›”?" and says how many commitments use it. Removing takes it from all of them and cannot be undone.

Pin a place on the map

  1. In the editor, write the place under "where? (optional)".
  2. Tap "⌖ pin it on the map". "WHERE IS IT" opens with your words in the search box.
  3. Pick one of the answers. Search starts once you stop typing, with three or more letters. It asks OpenStreetMap and shows each place's name and full address.
  4. Or move the map instead — "the pin is the middle". This suits a place with no name to search.
  5. Tap "keep". "leave it" closes without changes, and "take it off" removes a pin.

Picking an answer names the place and keeps its full address. Moving the map by hand names nothing, so a name of your own, like "mum's", is never overwritten.

The map opens on the pin you already have. Otherwise it opens where the phone last was, or on the place set for my sky (Gold) — the real stars over where you are, drawn behind the calendar.

On the commitment's page, the place opens in Google Maps when it is installed, or in any maps app.

On a locked almanac

The lock — a locked almanac refuses every change until you unlock it — refuses a form and refuses material before anything is copied.
