What you fill in, material & place

A commitment — anything on your calendar — can carry three things beyond its name and its day:

• what you fill in — a small form to answer
• material — files it carries, such as a handout or a ticket
• a place — a point on the map

The form and the files are added from the commitment's page, not while you write it. A file or an answer has to belong to something, and a commitment being written does not exist yet. The place is set on the card itself.

#The expand sheet

On a commitment's page, tap "⊕ expand", the circled plus in the bottom-left corner. The sheet is headed "EXPAND · ‹name›". Its rows:

• "⊕ material" — becomes "⊕ material · ‹n›" once it carries files.
• "⊕ what to fill in" — gains " · ‹n›" once the form has lines.
• "◇ ‹look›" — a diamond and the name of the look the page wears. See A commitment's page.
• Two rows about what goes out of Zenith — only when the commitment's almanac is plugged into something that takes a write. See What comes in, what goes out.
• "remind me to journal after" — "○ remind me to journal after · off" or "● remind me to journal after · on". It shows only while Zenith Journal can take a commitment. Tap it to switch it. The app answers "“‹name›” will remind you to journal when it ends", or "no journal reminder for “‹name›”". When the commitment ends, a notice offers it to the Journal. See Reminders.

The calendar's own entries — a holiday, a solstice — have none of these, so the sheet opens empty. On a locked almanac every row is greyed, and pressing one says "“‹almanac›” is locked — unlock it first".

#What you fill in

This is the part of a commitment you tick, slide, choose and date — not the part you read. Most commitments have none.

Build it. Tap "⊕ expand", then "⊕ what to fill in". The sheet is headed "WHAT YOU FILL IN · ‹name›". With nothing built yet, it says "nothing yet. a commitment with no section is the ordinary case — add a line only when there is something to fill in."

Tap "⊕ add a line". It becomes "▾ what kind of line?" and offers six kinds:

The sheet explains the odd one out: "a note is the one that is not filled in — it is a line of words the section carries, for the person doing the filling."

An open line asks for its words: "what does it say?" on a note, "what gets ticked off?" on a tick box, and "what does it ask?" on the rest. A line that is not right says why under itself, with "⚠", a warning triangle.

• "▴" and "▾" move a line up and down.
• "✕" takes a line out. If the line already holds an answer, it asks "take “‹line›” out?" and warns that the answer goes with it and cannot be undone.

Above the buttons, the count of lines is said in words, or "no section — nothing to fill in". A line with no words is named before it is dropped: "1 line has no words yet — it will not be kept."

The sheet has two views, "build" and "preview"; the one you are in wears "▸". Nothing reaches the commitment until "keep".

Answer it. The form shows on the commitment's page under "what you fill in". Each answer is saved the moment you give it — there is no save button, and nothing is sent anywhere. A locked almanac takes the answer straight back and says why.

A form the sky made says so. If the assistant built the form, the page shows "✦ made by the sky — ai-generated · verify what matters" under the heading. The "⚑" beside it — a flag — reports it in one tap and then reads "reported"; the report stays on this phone. A form the sky made shows only while the assistant is on. It keeps its label even after you edit it by hand. A form you built yourself carries no label and always shows.

Only safe parts are drawn. A form can only ever use the six kinds of line. If a form from another phone holds anything else, it is shown as a boxed red warning, "⚠ unsupported component “‹what›” blocked", instead of running. A button in such a form draws but does nothing.

#Material

Material is the files a commitment carries — the handout, the chapter, the ticket. The files belong to the almanac, and each commitment points at them. So several meetings can share one syllabus without a second copy. An almanac is a named, coloured layer of commitments, like one calendar.

Add files. Tap "⊕ expand", then "⊕ material". The sheet is headed "MATERIAL · ‹commitment›". Empty, it says "nothing attached yet. anything you add travels with the almanac when you share it."

• "⊕ add a file" takes any file. It answers "“‹name›” added" or "that file could not be added". One file can be up to 256 MB.
• "⊐ from the shuttle · ‹name›" adds a file riding the shuttle — the suite's shared tray for passing things between Zenith apps. There is one row per file while there is one.

A locked almanac refuses before anything is copied: "that almanac is locked — unlock it first".

Use files. Each row shows the file's name and size. Tap a row to open the file. Tap "✕" to remove it; it asks once and names any other commitments using that file, because it goes from all of them.

#Place

On the commitment card, "where? (optional)" takes any words.

Once there are words, or a pin already, a chip offers "⌖ pin it on the map" — the crosshair the app uses for a place. Once pinned, the chip shows the pin's own numbers.

The map sheet is headed "WHERE IS IT", over a box reading "search for a place".

1. Type at least three letters. It searches shortly after you stop typing, saying "looking…" while it waits.
2. Pick one of up to eight answers, each a name with its address under it. The map flies there and the name and full address are written onto the card.
3. Or move the map by hand. The line above the map reads "or move the map — the pin is the middle" until a place is picked. The middle mark is a red pin with a "⌖" crossing its point.

If nothing is found, it says "nothing found for that — move the map instead". With no connection, it says "the search needs a connection — move the map instead".

Moving the map by hand names nothing, so a name of your own — "mum's" — is never written over. Moving well away from a picked place drops its name and address, so an address never sits on a commitment that is not there.

The buttons are "take it off" (only when there is a pin), "leave it" and "keep". "keep" changes the card only; the commitment changes when you keep the card.

The map pictures come from OpenStreetMap, with no account and no key. Privacy, permissions & what leaves the phone says what that sends.
