Play
Play shows an entry or a journal that has been brought to life: every scene, in order, with its pauses, on a black screen with nothing else on it. Watching is free — anything you received plays free. Only making scenes is journal gold.
Open it
- The reader: "▶ play · n".
- The entry's ⋯ menu: "▶ play it · n".
- A journal's menu: "▶ play it" — "run the slides that have been brought to life".
- Bring to life: "▶ play it all".
What you see
- It plays at once, on real time, and stops at the end rather than looping.
- "· playing ·" while it runs; once it ends, "▶ again" plays it from the start.
- "· close ·", or back, leaves.
Captions show while settings › "ease" › "captions on videos" is on — it starts on. The same switch decides whether a gif or a video you export carries them: off, it is exported without captions.
When it plays by itself
In the reader, an entry that opens on its scenes plays once by itself while settings › "ease" › "scenes play as they arrive" is on and reduce motion is off. With "scenes play as they arrive" off, a slide is shown at rest and waits for your tap.
With reduce motion
Nothing moves. It says "reduce motion is on, so this is said rather than played." and lists every scene in words, with no "▶ again".
When there's nothing to play
- Nothing brought to life: "this hasn't been brought to life yet."
- The entry or journal has gone: "that is gone."
