Search & narrow the list
The list is every entry in words, newest first. You can search it, and narrow it to one journal. Tap "list" in the header to open it.
Search
Type in "⌕ search your words, tags and files" at the top.
- Every word you type must match the start of a word in an entry's title, words, tags, file names or place.
- It also finds what an entry says under its journals' extra headers, and what another app sent with it. See Extra headers.
- Start with "#" — "#garden" — to find the entries wearing that tag, not every entry with the word in it.
The count beside the journal picker follows the result. Nothing found: "nothing matches. back clears the search and filters."
One journal
- Tap "all journals ▾".
- Pick a journal; each shows how many entries it holds, and a ✓ marks the one shown.
- Pick "all journals" to undo it.
Other ways in, already narrowed
- A star's card › "its journal in the list" — that journal.
- Insights — a journal row narrows to that journal, a tag row searches for that tag.
- The reader's "also about" › "◌ <subject>" — that subject. The reader, and whatever it was opened from, close, so back works as it does on the list. See The reader.
Clear it
Back first closes an entry's ⋯ menu or the ✛ choices if one is open, then clears the search and the journal; the next back leaves the list. Neither the search nor the journal is saved.
What is not listed
Entries put away in the reliquary, entries on the burn pile, and entries in a locked journal until it is opened.
Ask the sky can search
Ask the sky searches the same way, extra headers included, and can show the list narrowed to a journal, a subject or a tag. It never finds a hidden entry or one in a locked journal. See What the sky can do — entries & journals.
