The Sky Veil

What it is. The veil — a privacy curtain that covers the launcher — is drawn over the sky — your home screen — when the screen wakes. It hides your layout behind a plain sheet until you unlock it.

What it is not. The veil is a seal on the launcher, not device security. Your phone's own lock screen still guards the phone. The veil only keeps your sky private, and it cannot be lifted with the back button.

#Turning it on

Turn on "veil when the screen sleeps" at Settings › system › sky veil. After that, the veil appears on its own each time the screen wakes.

#Getting through the veil

There are two ways in, and one always works.

Draw your sigil. Draw the talisman — a gesture shortcut you draw as a shape — you've set as the unseal sign. A clear match lifts the veil; a miss shows "the sky does not know that sign". You choose the sign in the "unseal sigil" picker at Settings › system › sky veil — either "any talisman" or one you name.

Rest a finger. Hold one still finger on the veil. A ring fills over about four seconds and the veil opens the moment it fills. This always works, even with no sigil set and every label hidden, so the way out is never lost.

#What shows on the veil

The veil can show a large clock and a hint line ("draw your sigil to unseal · or rest a finger"). Both are optional; with both off, the veil is a bare sheet to draw on. The real night sky can also show behind it. These are set alongside the veil toggle at Settings › system › sky veil.
