The Journal & Zenith Calendar
Zenith Calendar can hand the Journal one occurrence of a commitment, so you can write about it. The Journal opens straight into compose on a new entry, already filled in. Calendar only gives: nothing goes back to it. It is free.
From Calendar
In Calendar, the hand-over sits in two places:
- on one occurrence of a commitment, "↗ take it elsewhere" › "→ zenith journal";
- the "remind me to journal after" switch, whose notice offers the commitment to the Journal when it ends.
Both show only while a Zenith Journal that takes a commitment is on the phone. Calendar's side is on Share a commitment, What you fill in, material & place and Reminders.
What the new entry holds
- The title — the commitment's title.
- The day — filed on the day of that occurrence, not the day its pattern started.
- Its mark — Calendar's ◔ (C with "glyphs as letters") wherever entries are shown.
- "the commitment" — a line with the time, the place and who joined: "19:00 · the park · with ana, ben" on a 24-hour phone, "7:00 pm · …" otherwise. Compose keeps it as it is; the reader shows it under its heading.
- "its checklist" — when the commitment has a checklist or form: "✓ warm up · ☐ cool down · how it went: good". These are the answers as they stand when it is sent. A form too big to read has no "its checklist" line at all, never half of one.
- The words — the commitment's notes, yours to edit.
- "where it happened" — the place, with its pin and address when Calendar had them. See The filed day & where it happened.
- Its colour — the commitment's colour.
- Its files — the commitment's pictures and files become the entry's own, on compose's "materials" tab.
Calendar's extra headers
The time, the place, who joined and the checklist are also kept on the entry by Calendar's own names. Give a journal one of Calendar's extra headers — "calendar · time", "calendar · place", "calendar · who joined", "calendar · its checklist" — and once the entry is filed there, that header shows it. See Extra headers.
Good to know
- Tapped twice, two entries. Each hand-over makes a new entry; nothing is merged or replaced.
- With the app lock on, the entry is still made, and compose opens under the lock until the phone says it's you.
- If its files didn't come: "its files stayed in calendar — they couldn't be read".
- If it can't be made: "what was sent couldn't be read" or "what calendar sent couldn't be saved".
Shared with Calendar: the spine
The Journal's entry is Zenith Calendar's journal entry, so the parts every Zenith app shares mean the same in both. See How the Journal fits the suite.
