What it is. A hold in one of the four corners of the sky — your home screen — or on one of the four thin edge bands runs a shortcut instead of blooming the ring — the wheel of your apps. Only a hold on open sky opens the ring.

How to do it. Press and hold right in a corner, or on the strip along one side. After the same short pause that opens the ring, the action bound there runs.

Corners

Each corner is its own slot.

  • ↙ bottom-leftask the sky — the built-in AI assistant.
  • ↘ bottom-right → settings.
  • ↖ top-left → shade — the notification shade.
  • ↗ top-right → lock.

Edges

The edges are the thin bands between the corners: ← left, → right, ↑ top, ↓ bottom. All four ship unassigned, so a hold on an edge does nothing until you bind it.

What affects it. Corners take priority over edges — a hold that lands in a corner runs the corner, not the edge beside it. Every corner and edge is a slot you can rebind to an app, folder, shortcut, or system action; see Assign an action to a gesture. The pickers live in Settings › gestures. If a corner hold keeps opening the ring, see Gestures conflict with system gestures.
