Place a star

How-to

Dragging from the add button sets a new star's angle and distance before dropping it.

Placing a star — an app, folder, or shortcut — puts it on a ring, the wheel of apps that blooms under your finger. You pick what to add, then set where it sits.

Add and place it

  1. Press and hold empty sky — your home screen — to bloom the ring.
  2. Tap the add button () on the ring dock with a second finger.
  3. In the add menu, choose a tab for what you want: "Apps", "Folder", "Widgets", "Shortcuts", "Direct", "Files", or "System".
  4. Pick the item to add.
  5. The placement screen opens. Drag around the orbit to set the star's angle.
  6. Drag in or out to choose its orbit — how far it sits from the center.
  7. Tap "place ✦".

Your new star now sits on the ring at the spot you chose.

The placement screen is drawn to true scale, so the distance you set is exactly where the star lands on the live ring. Orbits snap to even steps so stars line up cleanly. To back out without placing, tap "cancel".
