Tap & place

How-to

"tap & place" is the other way to work the bloom — the rings of your tasks that open where you touch. One tap opens it, it stays open, and each tap does one thing.

In the app's words: "tap to open a bloom (it stays open); taps select, descend and complete".

Switch to it

Open settings › "touch" › "mode" and choose "tap & place". In the app's words, "this one switch governs blooms, actions, re-place and shuttle drops".

Open

A quick tap opens the bloom where you tapped, anywhere on the screen. A hold past the hold time opens it too. Lifting doesn't close it.

Tap

  • A star with nothing inside — the first tap chooses it, with a small spark, and the dock now acts on it. Tap it again and it goes out in a burst and is marked done. A done star reopens instead. Completing shows an "undo" pill and cancels the task's reminder.
  • A node — its ring opens straight away. No resting needed, though resting works as well.
  • A star that carries a card — the card opens.
  • Empty sky — lets go of the chosen star.

Double tap

A double tap on empty sky goes up one ring. At the first ring, a double tap closes the bloom.

Because your first tap already opens a bloom, a double tap doesn't reach settings in this mode. Use the "settings" button, bottom right.

Hold a star

Hold a star for about half a second and its details box shows. That hold doesn't also act when you lift.

The dock

Tap a button on the left edge:

  • ✚ opens the add sheet for the star under your finger, or the ring you are in. By tap it does not place live.
  • • shows the details box.
  • edit opens the task's sheet.
  • − removes the star, with an undo.
  • move closes the bloom, and your next touch places the star.

See The dock buttons.

Pinch and pan

Two fingers pinch and pan. The zoom stays from bloom to bloom and resets when a bloom closes. See Full bloom & pinch.

With "latched back"

With settings › "ease" › "latched back" on, taps choose, and two buttons at the bottom centre do the rest: ‹ (back) and ◉ (open). The mode's hint reads "tap to open a bloom (it stays open); with latched back, taps choose and ‹ ◉ go back and open". See Ease.

The hint line

With the bloom shut, the bottom says "tap to open a bloom" while "corner hint" is on. An empty sky says "tap anywhere to grow your first task".
