The Shuttle in Tasks

How-to

The shuttle is the one list of things in transit between your Zenith apps — what you caught, waiting to be filed or sent on. Every Zenith app on the phone sees the same items. How it works across the family is on The Shuttle.

In Tasks it is the inbox: "task it", the bubble, quick add, voice and sharing all land there. Tasks draws it itself, so a row can be dragged out onto the sky.

Open it

  • the rocket, top right of the main screen — with a count of items not yet stars here
  • settings › "capture" › "open the shuttle"

It rises from the bottom, headed "🚀 the shuttle", with "+ add" — "what you caught, waiting to be filed or sent on. hold a row and drag it onto the sky to make it a star — onto a node, when a bloom is open."

Tap above it, press back, or tap "· close ·" to close it. Opened from settings › "capture", closing it takes you back to that settings page; opened from the rocket, back to the sky.

Read a row

Each row shows 📎 for a file, the first line as its title and the rest under it, a file's size, where it came from ("from calendar", "from share", "from voice"…), how long ago, and "✓ in this sky" once it's a star here. Newest first. Tap a row to see all of it.

Empty: "nothing on the shuttle. “task it” on selected text, the bubble, voice and sharing all land here."

A row's buttons

Tap a row for its buttons:

buttonwhat it does
"make it a star"inside the node your bloom is in, else at the top of the sky
"→ calendar"opens Zenith Calendar's form with the words. See Tasks & Zenith Calendar
"→ mind"text only. Hands it to Zenith Mind
"✦ ask the sky"text only, while zenith ai is on. Opens ask the sky and sends the words
"copy"text only
"remove"takes it off the shuttle — see below

Make it a star

  • A text's first line becomes the title, and the rest its note. Dates and repeats in the first line are read out, as quick add does — "call Sam fri 3pm" gets its reminder.
  • A file's name becomes the title, with the file attached.
  • The new star is spaced evenly among the neighbours nobody placed by hand. Stars you placed keep their spot.

The item stays on the shuttle. Its row now shows "✓ in this sky".

Drag it onto the sky

  1. Hold a row. The drag starts and the shuttle slides away so you can see the sky. You stay on the sky even if you opened the shuttle from settings.
  2. Let go over the sky.
  • On a star in an open bloom — it becomes a star inside that one: "a star under “…”". A star with nothing inside becomes a node.
  • Anywhere else — it becomes a star at the top of the sky: "a star in this sky". At the top of a sky with regions, it goes in the region the last bloom opened in.

In "hold & drag" the bloom closes when you lift, so a drop there lands at the top. To drop onto a node, use "tap & place", or turn on "latched back", so the bloom stays open.

With two Zenith apps side by side in split screen, you can drop a row on the other one.

Add a file

"+ add" puts a file from the phone on the shuttle — "added to the shuttle". The shuttle keeps its own copy, so it still opens later. If the file can't be read: "couldn't read that file".

Remove a row

"remove" asks "remove from the shuttle?" — "it leaves the shuttle in every zenith app. stars you already made from it stay." Tap "remove" or "never mind".

Nothing else takes an item off. Reading, viewing, picking up or making a star from it never removes it.

What Tasks puts on it

"task it" on selected text, the floating bubble, quick add, sharing into Tasks, voice capture, tomorrow plan's lines, "compost → note" from the archive, and "+ add". A hand-off with a title from another Zenith app becomes a task straight away; a bare clip goes on the shuttle.

Where it lives

One Zenith app on the phone keeps the shuttle for the others; with no other Zenith app, Tasks keeps it itself. If a higher-ranked Zenith app is installed later and takes over, it brings the items over, files too, adding only what it doesn't have — so no item opens to nothing. See How Tasks fits the suite.

Its text size

settings › "text" › "the shuttle", from 80% to 160%.
