Troubleshooting
Most problems come down to a permission, a Gold feature, a lock, or one of the two "nothing comes in / nothing leaves" switches. Find your symptom below.
Reminders
No reminders arrive. The notification permission may not be granted, or that kind of notification is switched off.
- Open Settings › notifications.
- Turn the kind on. It asks for the permission if it still needs it.
A switched-off kind is never delivered, not merely silenced.
Reminders come a few minutes late. The phone's "Alarms & reminders" switch is off for the app, so reminders ring within a window instead of on the minute. Turn "Alarms & reminders" back on in the phone's app settings. The calendar sets its bells again and they ring on time.
Some commitments next month don't ring. Android lets one app hold 240 alarms, and the nearest ones come first. Nothing needs fixing. The line on Settings › notifications counts them, and the later ones are set as closer ones pass.
No ring the evening before. "day-before notice" is off by default, and covers only commitments — anything on your calendar — that have a time. Turn it on in Settings › notifications, or hold the commitment's row in the brief — the day's list along the bottom of the screen — and set "🔔 evening-before bell" on just that one.
The phone's own calendars
They don't show in "a calendar on this phone". The calendar can't see them yet. Tap "✛ let zenith see this phone's calendars", or do step 1 of "make zenith your calendar".
A linked calendar never updates. Its account may not be set to download it, or "nothing is coming in" may be on.
- On the almanac's page — an almanac is one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — open "what comes in" and tap "open sync settings". Zenith won't switch it on for you.
- Lift "nothing is coming in" in the binder's panel or in quick settings.
- Or tap "re-read this phone's calendars".
Edits don't reach the calendar they came from. The almanac may keep edits in Zenith, the source may be read-only, or "nothing leaves this phone" may be on. Set the almanac's "what goes out" to "your edits go back", and lift "nothing leaves this phone" — what was held is sent then. A read-only source never takes edits.
A phone-fed almanac came back empty after a restore. A backup keeps only the almanac's own commitments and lets phone links go. Link it again under "what comes in" on its page.
Google and Drive
"carry it in your drive" refuses. No Google account is linked. Connect one in Settings › connections.
Another device's changes haven't arrived. Drive brings changes down at most every 15 minutes, when you come back to the app. Leave and come back after a while, or tap "look for almanacs from my other devices" in the binder's settings.
"google did not allow it — nothing was made" on the travel sheet. Google's consent was declined. Tap "⊕ make “‹name›” its own calendar" again, or make the calendar in Google Calendar and pick it.
The sky and its almanacs
No weather line on the sky. There is no saved place and no location permission, or the weather could not be fetched. Grant location, for example by opening the day view. When a fetch fails, the line simply isn't drawn.
A change is refused because an almanac is locked. A lock refuses every change. Unlock it on the almanac's page (see The lock).
A control opens a purchase sheet instead of working. It's a Gold feature: a fourth almanac, backup & export, chat memory, a Gold theme, my sky, the vivid colours, a picture mark, folds & tablets, or another calendar system. Open Settings › zenith gold and tap "✦ unlock calendar gold · $1.99", or "restore a purchase" if you already bought it. Restoring a backup, widgets, the tile and reminders stay free.
"there's no play store on this phone — gold is bought through it". Gold is bought only through the Play Store.
Ask the sky
Ask the sky is the calendar's AI assistant.
No "AI" button, or the shortcut says to turn on ask the sky first. "zenith ai in this app" is off. Turn it on in Settings › ask the sky.
"no brain yet — pick a service and save a key in settings › ask the sky". No service or key is chosen. In Settings › ask the sky, pick a service under "THE SERVICE" and save your key under "THE KEY".
"nothing was sent — your words stay on this phone". You chose "not now" on the consent question. Ask again and choose "send to ‹service›".
The sky won't delete anything. "allow destructive actions" is off by default. Switch it on yourself in Settings › ask the sky; the sky can't. It still asks "allow it?" each time.
Opening files
"that is a journal…" or "that is a backup of a whole calendar…". The file went through the wrong door. A journal opens in the app that wrote it. Install a backup from Settings › files.
