Troubleshooting

Each entry below names what you notice, then what is behind it and where to look. A commitment is one thing you have to do; an almanac is a named, coloured layer of commitments, like one calendar. To reach the settings book, hold the gear ⚙ in the bottom-right corner of the sky — the whole calendar screen.

#A reminder did not arrive

settings › "notifications" asks the phone, each time it opens, whether notifications are allowed at all. If they are not, the page says so in amber: "this phone is not letting zenith calendar notify you at all". Tap that line to open the phone's own page for this app.

A kind of notice that is switched on while the phone refuses everything also says "· the phone is blocking this" beside its own name.

Two more things to know:

• A switched-off kind is never delivered — not silenced, never sent.
• Only a timed commitment gets a moment to ring. An all-day entry has none.

#A notification shows only "Zenith Calendar"

That is the locked screen keeping it private. Every kind of notification the calendar sends hides its words there, and how much shows also follows the phone's own lock-screen setting. Unlock the phone to read it, or tap it — it still opens the right place. See Reminders.

#Some commitments do not ring, and nearer ones do

Android lets one app hold only a limited number of pending alarms. Zenith arms the nearest first and stops well short of that limit, so what drops is the far future.

The notifications page says it plainly: "N commitment(s) in the next month are past the number of alarms android lets one app hold. the nearest ones ring; these do not, until something closer passes." See Reminders.

#A bell rang at the wrong time

The alarms are rebuilt for the next thirty days often: on every change to the calendar, as the app opens, as it leaves and returns to the screen, and on a reboot, a time-zone change, the clock being set, an update, and "Alarms & reminders" being switched back on.

If "Alarms & reminders" has been switched off by hand, a bell is armed somewhere in a ten-minute window instead of exactly. Switch it back on and every bell is armed exactly again.

#You hear about the same thing twice

Your other calendar app is still ringing, and no app can silence another.

Go to settings › "make zenith your calendar" › "quiet your old calendar app". It opens that app's own notification page, where you can turn it off. See Install & make it your calendar.

#An almanac stopped filling

Check four things.

1. The binder's switch. The binder — the page where your almanacs live — has a panel, "all your almanacs", holding "nothing is coming in". While it is on, Zenith has stopped watching every source. What already arrived stays put, and each almanac keeps its own setting for when you lift it.
2. The almanac's own feed. Its "what comes in" door says whether its feed is paused.
3. The setup row. settings › "make zenith your calendar" shows "the calendar feeding “…” is gone — link it again" when the calendar it read from was removed or its account signed out. It shows "“…” is paused — resume it on its page" when it is paused.
4. A fresh read. The binder's panel offers "re-read this phone's calendars" — "when something changed outside zenith and has not arrived yet".

Zenith watches the phone's calendars only while it is in front of you, and only while a live almanac could show such a change. See What comes in, what goes out.

#Nothing of yours is going out

"nothing leaves this phone" holds every outgoing write back. It is in the binder's panel and in quick settings — a tap on the gear ⚙. While it is on, Zenith writes nothing to any source, and what it already wrote stays where it is.

The moment you lift it, what was held goes out, and the app says so. Almanacs carried in your Drive are pushed up.

Both switches — this one and "nothing is coming in" — start off. They are checked at the moment of acting rather than written onto your almanacs, so lifting one puts every almanac back exactly as it was. Anything they stop names the switch standing in the way. See The binder's settings.

#Your other devices do not have an almanac

A Drive copy moves up once as the app leaves the screen, and comes down when it returns — at most once in fifteen minutes.

It never makes an almanac by itself. One waiting in your Drive that this phone does not have is listed under "look for almanacs from my other devices". It becomes an almanac only when you tap "make it an almanac".

Where both copies changed, the later change wins, and both phones say so: "“‹almanac›” was changed on your other device too —", then which change was kept. See Connected accounts & Drive sync.

#The app is silent

Sound is one setting for the whole suite. settings › "the calendar's voice" holds "sound — everywhere in zenith", the volume, the haptics (small vibrations on touch), and whether replies are read aloud.

A commitment's own chosen tone wins over its almanac's, and an almanac's wins over the app's. A chosen tone also becomes a row of its own under this app in Android's own settings, and a change made there wins. See The calendar's voice and Sound across the suite.

#The sky will not answer

Ask the sky — the calendar's built-in AI assistant — needs both switches on: "zenith ai in this app", on settings › "ask the sky", and the suite's own master switch, which Zenith AI owns.

A chosen service with no key saved answers nothing, and never falls through to another company. The sheet reads "no brain yet — pick a service and save a key in settings › ask the sky".

If you said "not now" to the question "send to ‹service›?", nothing was sent and your words stay on this phone. See Ask the sky — the assistant.

#A sibling app is not offered

Each crossing between apps shows only when that app is installed.

• "→ zenith tasks" on a commitment's "↗ take it elsewhere" menu is hidden entirely without Zenith Tasks.
• The assistant's "◉" — a ringed dot on the ask sheet's title line, which opens the lenses — needs Zenith AI on the phone, publishing lenses of its own.
• Asking the sky to hand a commitment over answers "zenith tasks is not on this phone".
