Cielo & lenses

Explanation
staticScreenshot coming soon

The calendar's assistant, ask the sky — the built-in AI you type or speak to — is not the calendar's alone. Some of it belongs to the whole Zenith family: who answers, how she answers, the switches that let words leave, and the key. This page covers those shared parts. The assistant's own sheet and settings are on Ask the sky — the assistant.

Cielo, who answers

Cielo is a being — the personality the replies are written in. She is built into every Zenith app, and she is there whether or not Zenith AI is installed. If the suite names some other being, the calendar uses that one. With none named, it is Cielo.

Her name shows under the ask sheet's title, as "cielo is listening" followed by the service that is answering.

Only the Zenith AI app can install or remove a being. So settings › "ask the sky" in the calendar offers no list of beings at all. That is on purpose.

It helps to think in two layers. The being is who speaks. The service is the company whose computers work out the words. You choose the service in the calendar; the being comes from the suite.

Lenses, how she answers

A lens — an AI mode shared across the suite — sits on top of whoever is answering. It changes how the reply is given, never who gives it.

You reach the lenses through "◉", a ringed dot with no words beside it. It is the second of four quiet marks on the ask sheet's own title line, and it shines brighter while a lens is on. Tap it and a pop-up opens: "how cielo answers — stack as many as you like; the choice is suite-wide".

So you can turn on several lenses at once. And a lens turned on in the calendar is on in every Zenith app.

Each lens is listed by the word Zenith AI publishes for it. The calendar asks Zenith AI for the list rather than keeping its own copy. A copy would go stale, and you could switch on a lens that no longer exists, with nothing happening and no way to tell why.

The ◉ mark is drawn only when Zenith AI is on the phone, can be opened, and is publishing lenses. If any of that is missing, there is nothing to choose between, and the mark is not drawn at all.

Two switches before any word leaves

Two switches must both be on before anything is sent to an AI company:

  1. The calendar's own "zenith ai in this app" — the first row on settings › "ask the sky".
  2. The suite's master AI switch, which belongs to Zenith AI.

Either one off, and nothing is sent.

The calendar re-reads the suite's switch every time one of its screens comes forward. So switching the family off in Zenith AI also takes the calendar's abilities away from every sibling app's assistant at once, with no restart. Turning the calendar's own switch off hides ask the sky, talk and the assistant's cards, and takes its abilities away from the siblings in the same way.

One key for the suite, one service for the calendar

The key you paste is held encrypted on the phone, in a vault the Zenith apps share. The field says so: "paste your key — encrypted on-device, shared suite-wide". Saving one confirms it, for example "claude key saved — the whole suite shares it". How shared keys work across the family is on Shared keys & connected accounts.

Which company answers, though, is the calendar's own choice. You make it under "THE SERVICE — calendar's own". There are ten rows, each tagged "key saved ✓", "needs a key", or "on-device · no key needed":

  • Claude (Anthropic)
  • OpenAI (GPT)
  • Gemini (Google)
  • Grok (xAI)
  • DeepSeek
  • Groq
  • Mistral
  • OpenRouter (many models)
  • Together AI
  • On-device (Gemini Nano)

A chosen service with no key answers nothing. It never quietly sends your words to a different company instead. The sheet reads "no brain yet — pick a service and save a key in settings › ask the sky".

The on-device service sends nothing

Gemini Nano runs on the phone's own chip. It needs no key and no account. It is the one service you are never asked permission for, because nothing leaves the phone.

It needs Android 12 or later with Google's on-device AI service present. In practice, that means a recent flagship phone.

Know this before you choose it: Gemini Nano can't use tools. With it chosen, the sky can discuss your calendar, but it can't add, move or read anything in it.

Asked once, by name, for every other company

Every other company is asked about once, by name, before the first words go to it. The question lists the seven things that can travel with your words. It ends: "it goes straight to [the company], only to answer you — zenith, black syntax and friend castle never receive or keep it."

A no sends nothing and puts your question back in the field. Every yes you have given is listed on settings › "ask the sky" under "SENT WITH YOUR YES", each with "withdraw", and "withdraw all" beneath. The seven things are listed on Safety, consent & your rights.

Sibling apps answer the sky too

With Zenith Tasks or another sibling installed, the sky can do everything the calendar can, plus everything that sibling offers. It finds and runs those abilities over the same private doorway on the phone. That is how planning tomorrow can take your open tasks into account.

A sibling installed after the calendar started is reached without a restart. One you uninstall stops appearing.

Whether replies are read aloud

That switch is not on the AI page. It is "the tulpa speaks its replies", on settings › "the calendar's voice" — the tulpa being the being behind a reply. What the being sounds like is shared through the family, so it sounds like itself wherever you meet it. See The calendar's voice.
