The Journal & Zenith Tasks
Zenith Tasks can hand the Journal one task, so you can write about it. It comes in by the same door as Calendar's card, and opens compose on a new entry already filled in. Tasks only gives: nothing goes back to it. It is free.
From Tasks
In Tasks, open the task's edit sheet and tap "📓 journal about this". A task with tasks inside asks first: "with what's inside" or "just this one". Tasks' side is on Journal about this.
What the new entry holds
- The title — the task's title.
- The day — filed on the day the task is due, or on the day it arrives when it has none. Its other dates stay in its line and its headers.
- Its mark — Tasks' ☍ (T with "glyphs as letters") wherever entries are shown.
- "the task" — a line with what the task has: done (and when), due, repeats, priority, waiting, "done only when everything inside is done", flagged, "when the weather is …", "done when …", "linked to …", made and changed, "made by ask the sky".
- "its checklist" — when the task has a form, in the same words as Calendar's.
- The words — its subtitle and its note, yours to edit.
- "what's inside" — every task inside it, at every depth, each ✓ or ☐ and indented by depth, with its own line, words and checklist under it. Its ✓ already says done, so its line leaves "done" out.
- Tags — from its categories and contexts.
- The place — from its place reminder, its label and pin.
- Its colour and its files.
Tasks' extra headers
Every value is kept on the entry by Tasks' own names, so a journal's "tasks · …" extra headers fill — such as "tasks · due", which shows its due day once the entry is filed there. See Extra headers.
Good to know
- Sent twice, two entries. Each hand-over makes a new entry.
- If its files didn't come: "its files stayed in tasks — they couldn't be read".
- If it can't be made: "what tasks sent couldn't be saved".
From the Journal to Tasks
Ask the sky in the Journal can add a task in Zenith Tasks when you name that app. And anything either app puts on the shuttle can be picked up in the other. See The Shuttle in the Journal.
