The main screen

Explanation

The main screen is the app. With "view" set to bloom, it is the bloom — touch the sky and rings of your tasks open where you touch. The same screen shows List view or the matrix instead when "view" says so. See The viewer panel.

The sky itself

Behind everything is your background colour, or your own picture, dimmed (Gold). With settings › "ease" › "high contrast" on, it is plain black instead. See Themes, colours & background.

The corner buttons

The corner controls never hide, in any view.

Top right, a row:

  • the skies button (stacked squares) — opens the skies page. See The skies page.
  • the priority star — switches "priority only" on and off, and says "priority only" or "all tasks". It turns gold while on.
  • "list" — opens the ★ priority list. See Priority & the ★ list.
  • the ask the sky button — shown only while "zenith ai in this app" is on. See Ask the sky in Tasks.
  • the shuttle, a rocket — with a count of items not yet stars here. See The Shuttle in Tasks.

Bottom right, top to bottom:

  • "view" — opens and closes the viewer panel. A tap outside the panel closes it.
  • "file" — opens the "files" sheet: "save this sky to a file (.zts)", "open a sky, a node or a backup" and "back up everything (.zbak)". See Save, open & back up.
  • "settings" — opens settings. See Settings, page by page.

"button labels" puts a word beside each bottom-right button, and the word can be tapped too. It is off until you turn it on, at settings › "ease" › "button labels".

The hint lines

An empty sky says "touch and hold anywhere / to grow your first task" in the middle — or "tap anywhere / to grow your first task" in "tap & place".

Otherwise, while no bloom is open, a faint line sits at the bottom centre: "hold to open a bloom", or "tap to open a bloom". Switch it off with settings › "layout & size" › "corner hint".

The undo pill

After a completion, a removal and the like, a pill near the bottom says what happened, with "undo", for 5 seconds. See Undo.

The details box

"• details" in the dock shows a small read-only box beside a star: its title, subtitle, note, "due", "stars inside", "categories", "repeats" and "status". Tap anywhere to close it. See The dock buttons.

Back

The phone's back button closes the open bloom one ring at a time. Only with no bloom open does back leave the app.

What opens over it

  • the first-run welcome, once — "welcome to zenith tasks", four tips, then two switches, both off: "show me the tutorial sky" and "load demo content"; then "you can add or remove these later in settings › files." and "start". "start" adds what you switched on; closing it any other way adds neither. See The tutorial sky & demo content
  • the Gold offer, when you reach for something Gold holds
  • "📍 you're here", when you reach a place your tasks are tied to — see Place reminders

With a screen reader

An invisible list of every task lies over the bloom. Each line reads the task's title, whether it is open, completed or waiting, how many stars are inside, when it is due, and "inside a task" when it sits in a node. Activate opens the task. The actions are "complete" (or "reopen") and "delete", each with undo.
