Edit an almanac

You change an almanac — one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — from the doors on its page, or from a short dialog on its chip. You can change its name, what it is for, its colour, its look, its sound and its mark — the small symbol or picture it wears.

A locked almanac refuses every change. It says "“‹name›” is locked — unlock it first".

#Change its name, description and colour

1. Open the almanac's page and tap the "edit" door. "WHAT IT IS · ‹name›" opens.
2. Change "its name".
3. Write "what it is for". This travels with the almanac. When you hand somebody a copy, it tells them what they have been given.
4. Pick a colour under "its light". The chosen one shows "✓".
5. To change how its commitments' pages look, tap "◇ ‹look›" under "the page its commitments wear". Pick a look, add a template from a file, or remove one you added.
6. Tap "keep". "leave it" closes without saving.

The vivid colours are Gold. Without Gold they show dimmed with ✦, and a tap opens the Gold offer.

On a holiday almanac, "what it is for" names where its dates came from. A sky almanac's is written from its own table.

#Use the quick dialog from the legend

You do not need the binder — the page where all your almanacs live — for this.

1. Hold the almanac's chip in the legend — the row of almanac chips you tap to show or hide them.
2. Choose "… more". The "edit this almanac" dialog opens.
3. Change "its name", "what it is for" or the colour. The last "◉" swatch opens a colour wheel.
4. Tap any of these to line them up for when you keep: "◉ make default", "▲ move up" (tap again to move further), "archive" or "restore".
5. Tap "keep" to save. "undo" closes without saving.

What the almanac is plugged into, and whether your edits go out to it, is on its page in the binder, not here.

Burn it. "burn" deletes the almanac and everything in it. The first tap arms it: "sure? and its N commitment(s)", or "sure? this is gone". The second tap deletes. It is not offered when this is your only almanac.

#Set how it rings

1. On its page, tap the "sound" door. "how “‹name›” rings" opens.
2. Choose "how much warning": "as the app does", "at the moment", "5 min", "10 min", "30 min", "an hour", "3 hours" or "a day".
3. Choose "the evening before": "as the app does", "always" or "never". "never" quiets this almanac without turning the notice off everywhere else.
4. Choose "what it sounds like": "a system sound" (the phone's picker), "music" (any audio file), "silent" or "as the app does".
5. Tap "keep". "leave it" changes nothing.

These apply to every commitment on the almanac, unless a commitment says otherwise. All three follow the app until you change them.

#Choose its mark

1. On its page, tap the "icon" door. "the mark it wears" opens. The same picker opens from the mark at the top of the commitment editor.
2. Pick one:

1. Tap "keep". "leave it" changes nothing.

With no mark, the almanac wears the first letter of its name. That is the clearest form of all if colour is hard to read.

Icon pictures stay on this phone. A picture cannot travel in a shared almanac the way a letter or symbol can, so one that is sent out falls back to its letter. An icon from a pack you later remove also falls back to the letter. An icon pack is any installed app that declares itself one, such as the Zenith Icon Pack.

"marks as letters" in Ease overrules every chosen mark at once.
