Add a commitment

How-to

A commitment — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — starts in the editor. The editor reads "new commitment" when you add and "your commitment" when you edit. Nothing is placed until you tap "place it".

Open the editor

Pick whichever way is closest:

  • Tap ✛ "add", bottom left. The commitment goes on the day you have picked.
  • In the day view, hold anywhere. If you are reading the rim, it opens at the hour under the bead, rounded to 5 minutes. An empty day says "a quiet day · hold anywhere to add".
  • In the week view, hold a date in the row of dates.
  • In the month view, hold a day cell.
  • In the year view, use ✛. Holding there does not add: the earth starts the time spin and the ring scrubs.

You can also start from an almanac's ✛ — an almanac is one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments. Or tap ✎ on a commitment's page or on a row of the brief — the list of a day's commitments along the bottom of the screen — or "✛ place something" on tomorrow, or share or drop words onto the sky — the whole calendar screen.

If settings is open when the editor comes in, the editor sits in front of it. One back leaves the editor, and settings is there again.

Fill it in and place it

  1. Say or type the title under "what happens?". Tap the microphone — "say it — the sky fills it in" — and say the whole thing, date and time included.
  2. Check the date: "on ‹month day›", with "▾ change" to pick another.
  3. Choose "how often": "☄ once", "↻ repeats" or "✦ yearly".
  4. Choose "what time": "all day", "9a", "noon", "3p", "6p", "9p", or "exact…".
  5. Choose "how long". For an all-day one, "beyond a day" lets it run until a later day.
  6. Pick the almanac from its name with "▾".
  7. Tap "place it".

The place sound plays, and the commitment is on the sky.

Every row on the form

RowWhat it does
Mark"◌" means it "wears its almanac's mark". Tap to give it "its own mark" — a small symbol or picture.
"what happens?"The title, with the microphone.
Date"on ‹month day›" and "▾ change". In another calendar system, the gregorian date shows under it.
"how often"Once, repeats or yearly. "repeats" offers "weekly", "every other week", "monthly" and "extensive…".
"on which days"For weekly ones: seven chips. Choose none and it keeps the day it starts.
"in shorter months:"For the 29th–31st of a month, or 29 February: "skip that month", "the last day" or "roll over".
"what time"Timed ones add "time zone" and "ends in".
"how long""—", "15m" up to "8h", "⋯" for any minutes, "ends…" and "beyond a day".
"where? (optional)"The place. Once you type, "⌖ pin it on the map" appears.
"joined by"The people coming with you, picked from your contacts.
"colour"◇ wears its almanac's colour. Or pick a colour, or ◉ for a colour wheel.
AlmanacLists only almanacs that can take a commitment, plus "✛ new almanac".
Notes"notes for future you…".
"sound""its almanac's", "silent", or "choose…" for the phone's tones.

The vivid colours are Gold. Without Gold they show dimmed with ✦, and a tap opens the Gold offer. A picture from your phone as a mark is also Gold. "✛ new almanac" is made only when you place the commitment. Past three almanacs of your own, it opens the Gold offer, led by "unlimited almanacs".

When the sky fills it in

With ask the sky — the calendar's built-in AI assistant — on, the sky fills in the card from what you said. The card then reads "✦ filled by the sky — ai-generated · verify what matters". Tap "⚑" to report it in one tap.

With "zenith ai in this app" off, or if you have not said yes to sending, the phone does its own reading. It fills only the title, date and time, and leaves no mark.

When it asks you something

  • "what about shorter months?" The day does not fall in every month. Say what it does then, or tap "back".
  • One of the phone's own calendars cannot hold the repeat. Keep it on a Zenith almanac, or choose another repeat.
  • The almanac is locked. It says "“‹name›” is locked — unlock it first", and nothing changes.
  • Moving a repeating one to another almanac is not possible yet.

Edit or burn

Open the editor from ✎. "keep" saves your changes and "undo" closes without saving. "burn" — delete the commitment — turns into "sure? this is gone". Tap it again to delete. If you wait, it disarms.

The very first commitment you place asks for permission to send notifications.

For power users

in the day view, ride the rim with one finger to find the hour, then tap ✛ with a second finger. The editor opens at that hour, the same as a hold.
