Settings, page by page
Settings is a sheet that rises from the bottom, with "settings" over an index of pages. Tap a row and its page opens in the same sheet. Nothing is set on the index itself: every row opens somewhere.
Open settings
- The ⚙ "settings" button in the bottom-right corner of the home views.
- On the escritoire, hold the ⚙ — a tap there opens the shelves' own settings.
- "settings" and "bring in a text or markdown file" on the welcome.
- Ask the sky's "set up the sky in settings ›".
The welcome's "bring in a text or markdown file" and ask the sky's "set up the sky in settings ›" open the index, and the line at the foot says where to go — "settings · files · bring in words", "settings · ask the sky".

"the journal"
The first page — how the journal opens, and a few things about the whole app.
- "opens as" — "the sky", "the list", "the orbits", "insights" (Gold) or "where I left it". See The home screen — header & corners.
- "the lock" — the app lock. See The app lock.
- "the day's sun" — "sunrise and sunset in the list". See The list.
- "hints" — "show the hints again" and "replay the welcome". See The welcome, hints & the example journals.
- "the example journals" — put them in or take them out. See The welcome, hints & the example journals.
- "also about" — the words you've ignored, so they are never shown as what an entry is "also about". Type a word in "a word to leave out", then a comma or "✛ ignore “<word>”"; it says "“<word>” is ignored", with undo, or "one word at a time." for more than one. Tap a word's chip to take it back off: "“<word>” can be also about again", with undo. You can also hold a word under "also about" in the reader. See The reader.
One page at a time
On a page, its "‹ title" line steps back to the index. One back is one step: on a page, back or a swipe down returns to the index; on the index, it closes settings. A page always opens at its own top. The sheet opens fully and scrolls.
Opening a file from settings closes settings first, so the file's page isn't hidden under it.
Ask the sky and settings
Ask the sky can open settings on any of its pages, and read or change most settings by name without opening anything. It can ignore an "also about" word, or take one back off. A Gold setting refuses in words without journal gold. "zenith ai in this app", the suite's AI switch, "let the sky do things that cannot be undone" and the app lock are never the sky's to change.
