What Zenith Calendar is

Explanation

Zenith Calendar is a calendar drawn as a sky. The whole app is the sky — one screen, one canvas that becomes each view. Your year is an orbit — a ring round the sun, one lap for the year. Each thing you have to do sits on it as a body.

Three ideas

Your year is an orbit. The sun sits in the middle. The year ring runs round it, with faint spokes for the solstices and equinoxes. The same canvas turns into the other views: the years, a day, a week and a month. The app opens on the year.

Everything you have to do is a commitment. A commitment — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — takes a form that says how often it comes back:

  • a ☄ meteor passes once;
  • a ↻ asteroid keeps coming round, like every week;
  • a ✦ fixed star returns every year.

Your calendars are almanacs. An almanac — one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — is either one of your own or a mirror of a calendar already on your phone. Several almanacs share one sky. You show, hide and reorder them, and they all live in the binder — the page that holds every almanac, in order.

Local first

The calendar has no server of its own. The phone's own calendars are read on the phone, and nothing read from them leaves it. What does go out goes to a service you chose or to your own account: ask the sky, Drive, travel into Google, weather and map search.

One app, one screen

This guide covers Zenith Calendar 1.0.0 (build 10000). It runs on Android 8.0 or newer. It is one screen. Turning the phone, or changing the text size, language, keyboard or a bolder font, redraws the sky rather than rebuilding it. Nothing you had open is lost.

Free, with Gold as an extra

The calendar is fully usable for free. Every view, every kind of commitment, reminders, the widget, the tile, Cielo and restoring a backup stay free. Zenith Gold is a one-time in-app unlock ("$1.99") that turns on the extras marked "(Gold)" in this guide. Gold is per app: buying it here does not unlock other Zenith apps, and buying it there does not unlock this one.

Part of a family

Zenith Calendar is one app in the Zenith Suite. It works with its siblings — Zenith Launcher, Mind, Tasks, AI and Tulpa — through a private link on your phone. Things like the Shuttle — the suite's shared tray for passing text and files between Zenith apps — AI keys and the suite-wide sound switch travel that way.
