Voice, memory & lenses
Three things shape how ask the sky — the launcher's built-in AI assistant — talks with you: whether it reads its replies aloud, whether it remembers past chats, and which lens — a shared AI mode — is active. Each is a quick toggle in the ask panel.
Turn read aloud on or off
Read aloud reads the assistant's replies to you. It's on by default. It used to be called "talk-back". It isn't Android's TalkBack screen reader, and it isn't "spoken labels", which reads star names as your finger reaches them.
- Open the ask the sky panel.
- Tap the "🔊" button in the header to mute — it becomes "🔇". Tap again to turn reading back on.
Muting also stops whatever is being read right now. Your choice is kept for every later ask.
The voice is the active being's — the suite's "who" that answers. Cielo, with no voice of her own set, uses your phone's own voice.
Remember a chat (Gold)
Normally the assistant forgets the conversation when you close the panel. Chat memory keeps it, so the sky can refer back to past chats. This is a (Gold) feature.
- Open the ask the sky panel.
- Tap the "✦" button in the header to turn memory on. It keeps the conversation so far, and the ✦ turns gold. Without Gold, this opens the upgrade sheet instead.
What's kept is stored only on your device. The most recent lines do go along with each ask to your AI provider, so the sky can refer back to them — newest first, as many as fit. (With "On-device (Gemini Nano)", nothing goes anywhere.) To read, edit, or erase it, open Settings › ask the sky and the "chat memory · what the sky remembers" section. Each line has a "−" that deletes it at once, and "save" keeps wording you've edited. Erasing is always free, Gold or not — its "erase everything" clears both the saved chat and the shared ask log. With nothing kept, the section reads "nothing saved yet. turn on “remember this chat” in ask the sky, and your conversation is kept here to edit."
Switch a lens
A lens changes how the assistant responds — a mode shared across the suite. Lenses come from the Zenith AI app, so the lens button appears only when Zenith AI is installed.
- Open the ask the sky panel.
- Tap the "◉" button in the header. A "lenses" list opens under the header.
- Tap a lens to turn it on (◉) or off (○). Tap "done" to close the list.
If none are published yet, the list reads "no lenses published yet — add some in Zenith AI."
Switching a lens changes the how, never the who — Cielo, the assistant's persona, stays the same.
