Something arrived — sharing into the Journal
Something arrived is the page that asks where a share from outside should go. Nothing is kept until you tap one of its choices, and each says where it will go.
What lands here
- In another app, share to "Zenith Journal" — words, pictures, videos, sound or a pdf; several pictures or videos at once.
- Select text in any app and choose "Zenith Journal" from the text menu.
- On the shuttle, an item's "Use it here".
Not here:
- A single entry, journal or template file opens "a file to open" instead. See Bring in a file or words.
- A card from Zenith Calendar's "↗ take it elsewhere" › "→ zenith journal", or a task from Zenith Tasks' "📓 journal about this", opens compose on a new entry already filled in. See The Journal & Zenith Calendar and The Journal & Zenith Tasks.
The page
Titled "something arrived". It says what came — "words", "one file", "3 files", or "words, and 2 files" — then shows the words (up to 240 characters) and each file's name.
"where shall it go"
| choice | what it does |
|---|---|
| "a new entry" | makes and keeps an entry dated now, then opens it in compose: "a new entry · already kept, with what arrived in it". Its title is the sender's subject — a mail subject, a page title — else the first line, but never a bare link |
| "add to the entry you were reading" | only while an entry is open in the reader. The words go in as a new paragraph, the files are added, and it says "added to “…”" and opens that entry in compose |
| "to the shuttle" | the words and every file go straight on the shuttle, and nothing is kept here (Gold) |
| "nowhere — let it go" | "nothing was kept" |
"to the shuttle" says "on the shuttle — nothing was kept here", or "on the shuttle · n it could not take · nothing was kept here" when some didn't go; if none went, "the shuttle could not take it". Sending it on is sharing, so without journal gold the Gold sheet opens first. The other three are free.
"‹ something arrived", or back, closes the page, keeping nothing.
A place that came with it
A map link with a place in it becomes the entry's place: "a place came with it — name it in “where it happened”". A short link without the place's coordinates is kept as the address only. See The filed day & where it happened.
A file that can't be read
It is named, not silently left out: "… couldn't be read — it may be over 256 MB, or whatever sent it may not be sharing it any more".
With journal gold
A journal whose gravity claims the new entry may file it straight away. See Gravity & a journal's template (Gold).
Ask the sky
While this page is open, ask the sky can say what came and answer "where shall it go" for you. The share itself, from another app, is always your own tap. See What the sky can do — design, screens, settings & more.
