Quiet hours & the daily limit
Two ways to keep reminders from interrupting you: hours when they wait, and a most-per-day. Both are on settings › "reminders" — "daily limit · quiet hours".
Quiet hours
A nightly window when reminders wait instead of reaching you.
- Switch "quiet hours" on. They start at 22:00 and run to 8:00.
- Move "quiet from" and "quiet until" to change them. Whole hours only, on the 24-hour clock.
Both hour rows show only while "quiet hours" is on.
- A reminder that falls inside the window isn't lost. It waits and arrives at the "quiet until" hour, on the hour.
- Hours that cross midnight, such as 22 to 8, work.
- If "quiet from" and "quiet until" are the same hour, nothing is held.
- Switching quiet hours off forgets the start hour. Switching them on again starts at 22:00.
"interruptions a day"
The most reminders that may reach you in one day. 0 means no limit, up to 12. It starts at 0.
Each reminder that reaches you counts one against today. Once the count is used up, the rest of today's reminders are dropped — they don't wait for tomorrow. The count starts again the next day.
- A reminder held back by quiet hours isn't counted until it fires.
- A reminder whose kind is switched off in settings › "notifications" isn't counted at all.
Place arrivals and weather alerts
Two more switches on the same page, both on to begin with:
- "place arrivals follow quiet hours" — "off: a place arrival comes through even in quiet hours or past the day's limit"
- "weather alerts follow quiet hours" — "off: a weather alert comes through even in quiet hours or past the day's limit"
While one is on, that kind of notice follows the same rules as a reminder. Inside quiet hours it waits and comes at the "quiet until" hour as itself — the same words, every task it was for. Outside them it counts toward the day's limit, and past the limit it is dropped.
Switched off, it comes through at once. Either way, its own switch on settings › "notifications" switched off stops it before anything else. See Which alerts you get.
