The ring dock

What it is. The dock — the ring's small cluster of edit buttons, shown while a ring — a wheel of your apps — is open. It is where you add, move, edit, and remove stars without leaving the ring.

The buttons.

• add — always there. Opens the menu for adding a new star to the ring you're on.
• re-place — moves a star to a new angle and orbit.
• edit — changes a star's settings, including its icon.
• remove — takes a star off the ring.

How to reach them. add is always visible. re-place, edit, and remove appear only once you've touched a star — they act on that star. While you keep the ring held with one finger, tap a dock button with a second finger to fire it.

What affects it. Where that second finger lands decides what happens:

• On a dock button — the button fires.
• On empty space — nothing is tapped; the second finger pinch-zooms the ring instead. See Pinch to zoom the ring.

Why it works this way. The dock keeps building and tidying your sky inside the same hold you use to open apps, so you never open a separate edit screen.
