Widgets, shortcuts, the tile & links
You can reach the calendar without opening it first. There are two home-screen widgets, the shortcuts on the app's icon, a quick-settings tile, the share sheet, and links from other Zenith apps. None of them is Gold.
The two widgets
Where. On your home screen, add a widget and pick Zenith Calendar. The picker shows each widget's name, a one-line description and a picture of it.
"today & the moon" shows "✦ zenith calendar", today's date and the moon's real phase. Under that come your next three commitments — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — each as its title and day. On an empty stretch it reads "a quiet day". Tap anywhere on it to open the app. It takes at least 3×2 cells, and you can resize it.
"the days ahead" is headed "the days ahead" with today's date. It lists your next seven commitments, each with "today", "tmrw" or its day, the title, and the time if it has one. With nothing coming it reads "a quiet day — nothing ahead". It takes at least 4×2 cells and you can resize it. As many rows show as fit; the three buttons at the bottom always show.

Staying current. Dates on both widgets follow the calendar system you chose. Each one updates by itself every 30 minutes. They also refresh when you leave the app, when speaking places a commitment, and when an opened file brings material in. In December they look into the next year, so the list never runs dry.
Shortcuts
Press and hold the app's icon to see these:
- "new commitment" — today, with a new commitment's editor open.
- "speak commitments" — the speech screen; what it hears is placed as commitments.
- "ask the sky" — the calendar's built-in AI assistant. If "zenith ai in this app" is off, it opens nothing and says "turn on ask the sky in settings first".
- "the years" — today, in the years view.
- "tomorrow plan" — tomorrow's sheet.
- "Place in Calendar" — a new commitment. This is also what puts the calendar in the share sheet's suggested row.
The quick-settings tile
Add "Zenith Calendar" to your phone's quick-settings panel. One tap closes the panel and opens a new commitment on today.
Zenith links
Other Zenith apps, and the calendar's own widgets and notifications, can open a place inside the calendar with a Zenith link:

If the commitment is gone, you see "that commitment is no longer on the calendar". If the journal entry is gone, "that entry is not in this journal". A link meant for another app, or for something the calendar does not have, opens nothing.
When ask the sky places or opens a commitment, its reply carries that commitment's link.
A commitment's own links. On a commitment's page, rows reading "⛓ ‹app› · ‹type›" open the other app's item when you tap them.
