Ask the sky — the calendar's assistant

Ask the sky — the calendar's built-in AI assistant, voiced by Cielo — lets you type or speak a request and get an answer. It can also act for you: place a commitment — anything on your calendar, an event or a thing to do — change one, or arrange your almanacs — your calendars, each a named, coloured layer of commitments. It works on your own key for the AI service you choose, or on the phone's on-device model.

Who answers, the lenses, and keys shared across the suite work the same in every Zenith app. They are explained on Ask the Sky across the suite. This page covers the calendar's side.

#Where you find it

• The "AI" corner button, at the top right of the sky — the whole calendar screen.
• "AI" on an almanac's page, where the sky is told about that almanac, and on the binder.
• "AI" on a commitment's page, which opens a talk about that one commitment.
• "✦ ask the sky about it" in the Shuttle and when something arrives, and "✦ plan it with the sky" on tomorrow's sheet. These open with the request already asked.

Setup lives in Settings › ask the sky.

#The sheet

The sheet is titled "ask the sky". Under the title, a line reads "‹being› is listening · ‹service›". The being is Cielo unless the suite names another. There is no list of beings in the calendar.

• Top row. "remember ✦" turns on chat memory (Gold). 🔊 and 🔇 turn spoken replies on and off.
• Chips. "⌗ screen" tells the sky what you are looking at. "lens" appears only when Zenith AI is installed and opens the lenses.
• The talk. Each reply carries a "⚑" you tap to report it. While it works, you see "the sky is thinking…".
• Footer. The field "ask the sky…", 🎙 to speak your ask, and "➤" to send.

The footer also reminds you that replies are AI-made, so verify what matters.

#What happens when you ask

Your words are screened on the phone first. Then they go to the service you picked. The first time they would go to an AI company, the calendar asks "send to ‹service›?". Say no and nothing is sent. The on-device model never asks, because nothing leaves the phone.

The sky can take several steps to finish a request. Before it burns, drops or clears anything, it needs your say-so (see Safety, consent & destructive actions). Its reply is screened again before you see or hear it. If it only acted, it tells you how many actions it took on your calendar.

For things only you can finish — a picker, a permission, Google's consent, a purchase, a drag, a widget — it opens the exact screen and leaves the last step to you.

#The service is the calendar's own choice

The AI service is chosen per app. Your keys are shared across the suite, but the calendar picks which company it asks.

• "THE SERVICE — calendar's own". Pick one of claude, openai, gemini, grok, deepseek, groq, mistral, openrouter, together ai, or on-device (gemini nano). Each row says "key saved ✓", "needs a key" or "on-device · no key needed". The assistant cannot change this for you.
• "THE KEY · ‹SERVICE›". Paste your key and tap "save key". "get a key ↗" opens that company's key page. "remove key" takes it away. A saved key is shared by every Zenith app — see shared keys & connected accounts.
• "THE MODEL · ‹SERVICE›". A field for which model to use. Leave it empty for the service's default. There is none for on-device.

Only the chosen service is ever asked. Without its key, the sheet says "no brain yet — pick a service and save a key in settings › ask the sky". It never falls back to another company.

#"zenith ai in this app"

This is the calendar's master switch for AI, in Settings › ask the sky. It is on by default.

Turn it off and the "AI" button, talks and agent cards disappear. Other Zenith apps can no longer act on this calendar. Spoken or shared words are then read on the phone for title, date and time only, and nothing reaches an AI. The same happens when the suite-wide switch in Zenith AI is off.

While it is on, "allow destructive actions" sits under it. It starts off.
