The lock
Every almanac — one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — has a lock switch. While it is locked, nothing about the almanac changes. Only what you look at does. Every stock almanac ships locked: the holidays, "celestial" and the two astrology almanacs.
Where it is. On the almanac's page, the switch under its name reads "locked" — "everything about it is shut — tap to unlock" — or "unlocked" — "open — it can be worked on". While locked, every door around the almanac but "export" is greyed and wears a padlock. In the binder — the page where all your almanacs live — a locked almanac has brackets around it.
What a lock refuses
- Its name, colour, description, mark (the small symbol or picture it wears), page look, sound and warning.
- Its material — files its commitments share.
- Archiving and restoring it, dropping it, and making it the default.
- Every connection switch: plugging in, unplugging, pausing, writing out and carrying detail.
- Travel — moving its commitments into a Google calendar in your own account — the Drive copy, and showing it to the rest of the phone.
- Adding, editing, moving or deleting its commitments.
- Placing an arriving card on it.
What stays open
- Turning it on or off — visible or eclipsed, which hides it without deleting anything.
- Moving it in the order.
- Reading its list of commitments.
- Export.
A lock never stops the source. Commitments still arrive through a locked almanac's connection.
One sentence everywhere
A refused door on the almanac's own page says "it is locked — unlock it first". Every other refusal names the almanac: "“‹name›” is locked — unlock it first". You see it from the chip menu, the "… more" dialog, the commitment forms, an arriving card, the sheets on the almanac's page and ask the sky — the calendar's built-in AI assistant — alike.
The sentence shows on a dark backing, so it reads over whatever is beneath it, and it plays the refusal sound. A burn — a delete — refused in the "… more" dialog leaves the almanac's page open.
Unlocking
Unlocking is one tap, and it is never refused. Unlocked, a stock almanac is an ordinary almanac. Unlocking a sky almanac also makes it your own copy.
