Open & closed skies
A sky is one whole Tasks file — every task in it. You can keep several: in the app's words, "each sky is its own file on this phone — your personal sky, your work sky…". You can have several open, but you see and change one at a time: the one on screen.
How many can be open
Without Zenith Gold, 3 of your own skies can be open at once. With Gold, any number (Gold). The skies page counts them: "open · 2 of 3".
The tutorial sky and demo skies never count, and a closed one opens again even at 3. While one is open, the count adds "· tutorial & demo skies don't count". See The tutorial sky & demo content.
Switching
Tap another sky's card on the skies page. Switching saves the one you leave first, then loads the other in its place, so nothing is lost. Its repeats catch up when you come to it.
The sky on screen is marked "looking at it" on the skies page.
Closing
Closing a sky keeps its file on the phone, under "saved on this phone". One sky always stays open.
Only open skies run:
- Closing a sky takes its reminders off. A task in a closed sky never pings. Opening it again puts its reminders back.
- Place reminders work the same way. Every open sky's places are watched, not only the one on screen's, and a closed sky's never are.
- The tutorial sky and demo skies stay quiet even while open: no reminder, place or weather trigger in them rings.
Each sky keeps its own
- its own regions — see Regions
- its own undo — a copy only ever goes back into the sky it came from. See Undo
Ask the sky and your skies
Ask the sky, Tasks' AI, works on the sky on screen: "ask the sky works on the one you're looking at." With "work across every open sky" on, it can see every open sky, but still switches to one before changing it. "come back to the sky you were on" brings you back afterwards. Two skies side by side
On a fold or tablet, with "split screen" on "two skies" (Gold), a second open sky sits beside yours. It is only a preview. Tap it and it becomes the sky you work on; yours moves to the preview side. See Folds & tablets (Gold).
