Folds, tablets & wide screens
On a big or folding screen, the calendar keeps asking two questions: how wide is this screen, and how is the phone bent right now. This page covers the settings page that decides what it does with the answers. What using each layout is like is on The docket, the second sky & the desk clock.
Where it is
settings › "zenith gold" › "folds & tablets". This page sits inside the Zenith Gold page, not on the main settings list. To open the settings book, hold the gear ⚙ in the bottom-right corner of the sky — the sky being the whole calendar, one canvas that becomes each view.
The page is headed "for an unfolded fold, a tablet, or a big phone on its side". You can open and read it without Gold. Stepping back out lands you on "zenith gold".
What "wide" means
The Zenith family shares one measure for a truly big screen: the inside of a fold opened out and held sideways, a tablet, or a big phone on its side. Four things wait for that width: the docket, "magnify", the split on a commitment's page, and the answer ask the sky — the built-in assistant — gives if you ask whether the screen is wide.
The sky's own big-screen layout is gentler. It looks at the screen's narrower side instead. A fold opened out and held upright is narrower than the big-screen measure, yet it is still roomy. So on the inside of a fold, the sky uses its big-screen layout whichever way up you hold it. The docket only appears when the fold is sideways.
How the phone is bent
A fold reports one of four postures: flat, half-open like a laptop, half-open like a book, or not known. It also reports whether the hinge splits the screen into two usable halves. The calendar uses this in two places only:
- Half-open like a laptop turns on the desk clock, if you chose it.
- Held like a book, the docket's divider sits on the crease, at exactly half, and does not move.
How Gold is marked
The page has seven Gold rows and one free row. On each Gold row, the answer the app has always given is free and never locked, so you are never stuck on a setting you can no longer change. The other answers wear the gold star ✦. Tapping one opens the Gold offer instead of choosing it. "the second view" is the one row with no free answer, because the second sky does not exist without Gold.

The first answer in each row is where the app starts.

For everyone: "the wider sky"
Under the heading "FOR EVERYONE" at the foot of the page is one free row.
"the wider sky" — "expanse" or "magnify".
- "expanse" draws the sky exactly as a phone does. It is where the app starts.
- "magnify" grows the marks, the words and the reach of a touch by 35% on a truly wide screen, so what you touch still matches what you see. It applies in the second sky too.
The rings the sky is drawn on already grow with the screen. "magnify" brings what is drawn on them up to match.
