How the Journal fits the suite

Explanation

Zenith Journal is one app in a family of eight: Zenith Launcher, Zenith Calendar, Zenith Mind, Zenith Tasks, Zenith AI, Zenith Tulpa, the Zenith Icon Pack, and Zenith Journal. It is a journal of its own: it works alone, and needs nothing else installed. Installed together, the apps share a little and can hand things to one another. The family as a whole is on The Zenith Suite & broker.

What it shares

  • The shuttle — the suite's shared tray for passing words and files between Zenith apps. See The Shuttle in the Journal.
  • Three settings — "sound — everywhere in zenith", "navigation" (hold or tap) and "star labels" (above or below). Change one here and it changes in every Zenith app. See Ease and Sound & the journal's voice.
  • The AI switch — the suite's master switch, set in the Launcher. While it is off, ask the sky is off here too.
  • The AI key — one key for the whole suite on this phone, typed once. See Shared keys & connected accounts.
  • Who answers — Cielo, the tulpa, the same in every Zenith app unless Zenith AI makes another active.
  • Lenses — Zenith AI's answer styles, only when Zenith AI is installed and offers them. The Journal has none of its own.

What it keeps its own

  • Journal gold — this app's own one-time upgrade. Buying it never unlocks another app, and no other app's Gold unlocks this one. See Journal Gold.
  • Your entries — no other Zenith app reads or writes them.

The spine — shared with Calendar

The spine is the set of fields an entry means the same way in every Zenith app: its id, when it was written, the day it is filed on, its title, its words, its ties and its history. The Journal's entry is Zenith Calendar's journal entry, so the two read each other's entries the same way. The Journal adds its own fields beside the spine, never over it, and nothing another app wrote is ever dropped.

What comes in from other apps

Two apps can hand the Journal something, only when you tap it there:

Each becomes a new entry of the Journal's own. Nothing goes back.

Words, pictures and files shared from any app land on "something arrived". See Something arrived — sharing into the Journal.

Other apps' marks on the sky

An entry another Zenith app wrote keeps that app's mark: ◔ calendar, ✻ mind, ☍ tasks, △ ai, ☺ tulpa. With "glyphs as letters" on: C, M, T, A, U — and J for written here. See The sky.

Ask the sky reaches the other apps

The Journal's ask the sky can use the other Zenith apps' own actions on this phone — "add a task in Zenith Tasks" reaches Tasks — but only when you name that app. An app that isn't installed offers nothing, and neither does one whose own AI is off. The other app does the thing itself; if it doesn't answer, the line under the reply says "no response from <app>".

Other apps' AI can reach the Journal

The AI in another Zenith app — Calendar, the Launcher, Tasks, Mind, Zenith AI or Tulpa — can use the Journal's own actions too, the same ones ask the sky uses. They keep the same walls: hidden entries and locked journals stay out of reach.

  • With "zenith ai in this app" off — or the suite's AI switch off — the Journal offers nothing to any other app: "off hides the ai button in the corner — and other zenith apps can no longer act on this journal."
  • While "let the sky do things that cannot be undone" is off, the actions that can't be undone aren't offered to other apps at all.

Ties to other apps

A tie can point at another Zenith app's thing. In the reader it opens in that app, or says "zenith <app> is not on this phone".
