Gestures conflict with system gestures

Zenith's gestures share the screen with your phone's own navigation gestures. Near the edges and corners, the two can collide. Here's what conflicts, and what you can do about it.

#Side flicks vs the back gesture

A flick — a quick, short swipe on the sky, your home screen — fires a bound action. A left or right flick lands in the same place as the system back gesture on gesture-nav phones. That's why Zenith ships left and right flicks unassigned: only flick up (the deep sky) and flick down (the notification shade) are set by default.

• If you bind a side flick and it fights the back gesture, leave that side unassigned.
• Or switch your phone to three-button navigation, which frees the side edges.
• Flicks are told apart from slow swipes by speed — a flick has to be quick and short — so a gentle drag near the edge won't usually trigger one.

#Corner and edge holds vs the home bar

Holding a corner — one of the four screen corners — or an edge — a thin band along a side — runs an action instead of opening the ring, a wheel of your apps. The bottom edge and bottom corners sit near the home gesture bar, so a hold there can be caught by the system first.

By default the corners are: bottom-left ask the sky, bottom-right settings, top-left the shade, top-right lock. If a bottom hold conflicts:

• Move the action to a corner or edge that doesn't overlap the home bar — the top corners and top edge are usually clear.
• Re-bind slots in Settings → gestures; see Assign an action to a gesture.

#A system action does nothing

Lock, the notification shade, recents, and the like need zenith actions — the accessibility helper that lets gestures do system things. If a corner set to "lock" or "shade" does nothing, that helper is probably off.

1. Open Settings and tap "enable zenith actions →".
2. Turn "Zenith actions" on in your phone's accessibility screen.

#What we can't override

System navigation gestures belong to Android, not to Zenith, and Zenith can't switch them off. When a spot truly conflicts, move the action to a slot that doesn't overlap, or change your phone's navigation mode.
