Insights (Gold)
Insights is the journal seen from a little way back: how much you have written, your longest run of days, your rhythm, and stacks of counts. It is part of journal gold — the one-time upgrade (Gold).
Tap "insights" in the header. Without journal gold the switch reads "insights ✦"; the view says what insights counts and "it is part of journal gold.", and "✦ what insights shows" opens the Gold sheet.
What it shows
- The top lines — the counts in words, the longest run, and the rhythm.
- The stacks — "by journal" (with a "not in a journal" row), "by app", "by month" (for the year the sky is turned to), "by tag" (rows like "#garden") and "by subject" — never a word you've ignored. See The reader. A stack with nothing in it says "nothing here yet."
Every number comes with its own words, so it can be read aloud; a screen reader hears the words, not the bars.
A row
Each row shows its mark, its name, its count and a bar as long as the count. Tap it to show these in the list:
- a journal row narrows the list to that journal;
- a tag row searches the list for that tag;
- any other row opens the list as it is.
Subjects, found with the AI
"subjects · found with the ai" shows only while the AI is switched on. It finds what several entries are about even when they use different words — "the allotment" and "the beds".
- Tap "✦ find subjects across different words". The first time, it asks your yes before anything is sent. It says "asking…" while it works.
- It keeps only subjects that name at least two real entries, at most twelve, and says "the ai found N subjects". A subject that names a word you've ignored is not shown.
- Each subject lists its entries; tap one to read it. "✦ ask again" asks again.
With fewer than three entries it says "a few more entries first — subjects are what several of them share". The subjects last until the app closes. With "on-device (gemini nano)" chosen as the service on a phone that doesn't have Google's on-device model, it says "on-device ai isn't available on this phone — choose another service in settings · ask the sky" and asks nothing.
What is left out
A hidden entry is never counted or shown, and neither is an entry a locked journal holds. With nothing written it says "nothing to count yet. write something, and this fills in by itself."
