The week view

Reference

The week view is a week under its moon: the moon on top, a grid of days below. To reach it, tap the moon in the year or day view, or lift the moon up from the month view.

What you see

  • The moon shows its phase at the middle of the week, with the phase's name under it. It stays above the days, even when the sky — the whole calendar screen — is wide and short.
  • Nine columns. The seven days, plus the day before and the day after in grey. Each shows its weekday and day number, in the chosen calendar system's own numbering. Today's number is gold and the picked day is ringed. The week starts on the chosen tradition's first day, or on your own choice with the gregorian calendar.
  • The time grid. Under each day are its commitments — anything on your calendar, events or things to do — each as a mark and a start time, such as "9a" or "2:30p". All-day ones come first, as "—". The grid runs from 6:00 to 23:00, so times line up across the week. What does not fit shows as "+N".
  • With a day's brief open. When the brief — the list of a day's commitments along the bottom of the screen — is open under the week, the times close up and stop at about two-thirds of the way down, so the brief fits below. What no longer fits joins the "+N".
  • The hint reads "tap the moon for this week · swipe the dates for others · tap a time for its story".
  • Held sideways, the week keeps the sky's full height and keeps clear of the big date on its own.

Taps

  • The moon takes you back to this week, on today.
  • A time puts that commitment in the brief.
  • A date or an empty column picks that day, with its brief pinned.
  • Any tap while you carry the moon sets it down.

Scrub the grid

Only a drag that begins on the time grid scrubs. The row of dates is for swiping weeks.

  • The column under your finger becomes the picked day, with a note for each day.
  • The commitment under your finger takes the brief. Sweep down a day to read each one in turn, or sideways to cross into the next day. Each plays a note and lands with a bump.
  • You feel the grid as you go, more strongly over a commitment.

Swipe weeks. Away from the grid, swipe sideways to page by one week at a time. Its direction follows "reverse the moon's spin" in Settings › time & directions.

Roll from the edge. While scrubbing, rest your finger on a grey day at either side. The spot pulses twice with a light tick and a note. On the third pulse the week moves one week that way, with a stronger tick and a tilt. Keep resting to keep rolling; move off the edge to stop. There is no on-screen hint for this.

Carry the moon between week and month

Take hold of the moon and carry it. Past halfway it becomes the other view. Let go short of halfway and it drifts home.

  • Week to month. Pull firmly downward anywhere, or more gently starting on the moon, to take hold of it. Sideways swipes still page the weeks. The sky dims and the moon follows your finger, with "carry the moon down · past halfway lies the month". Let go past halfway and it settles into the month.
  • Month to week. Tap the moon to take hold of it, or pull firmly upward (gently if you start on the moon). You see "lift the moon · past halfway lies the week". Let go past halfway and the week opens on the week of the picked day.
  • Setting it down. Any tap while carrying puts the moon back where it started.

In the month, the only hint for this grab is the lifted-moon line. The month's standing hint speaks only of stroking the moon for other months.
