Reminders
A star with a time sends one calm notification when the time comes. A star is how a task is drawn.
Set one
- Give a star a time on its edit sheet, under "remind me". See Due times & repeats.
- Or type it into a new task's title: "call Sam fri 3pm".
Pasted lines, shuttle items made into stars, dates sent from other Zenith apps, and times ask the sky sets get reminders too. A time ask the sky sets becomes a reminder straight away.
When the time comes
- The star is looked for in every open sky; a closed sky's reminders are off. A star that's already done stays quiet.
- A star in the tutorial sky or a demo sky stays quiet too — those skies never ring. See The tutorial sky & demo content.
- Inside quiet hours it waits until they end. See Quiet hours & the daily limit.
- With "task reminders" off in settings › "notifications", nothing is shown, and it doesn't count toward the day's limit. See Which alerts you get.
- Past today's "interruptions a day" it's dropped for good.
Tasks doesn't use exact alarms, so a reminder may come a little late while the phone sleeps.
The notification
It shows the task's name and "tap to open · or mark it done", with two buttons: "done" and "snooze 1h". On the lock screen it says only "a zenith task is due". Only one shows at a time — a new one replaces the last.
- "done" completes the star and clears the notification. In the sky on screen it goes the same way as completing it by hand: it can be undone, and talismans that wait for a completion run. In another open sky it's marked done in that sky's file, with no undo and no talismans.
- "snooze 1h" moves its time an hour on and reminds you then, in whichever open sky holds it.
A node that completes only when its insides are done, with some still open, stays open. Its reminder stays where it is, and a short note says "finish the tasks inside first — this one completes only when they're done."
Completing cancels it
Completing the star in Tasks, or through ask the sky, cancels its reminder. Undo puts it back: "undo" sets the reminders of the sky on screen again.
Closed skies stay quiet
Only open skies run. Closing a sky takes its reminders off, and a task in a closed sky never pings. Opening it again puts its reminders back. See Open & closed skies.
After a restart
When the phone restarts, Tasks puts its reminders back without you opening it. The same happens after Tasks is updated, and when the clock or time zone changes.
- Reminders — every coming reminder is set again, in every open sky. A closed sky's reminders stay off until you open it again.
- Repeating stars — any in the sky on screen whose day has come bloom again. Another sky's catch up when you switch to it, or open it again.
- Place reminders — come back as you chose them. See Place reminders.
Opening Tasks also sets the coming reminders of the sky on screen again.
