Undo
Undo is a safety net for one-way changes. Right before one, Tasks copies the whole sky — the Tasks file on screen. "undo" puts that copy back whole.
The pill
After a change that can be undone, a pill shows near the bottom with what happened — "completed “buy milk”", "deleted “…”", "moved “…”" — and an "undo" button. It hides after 5 seconds.
Tap "undo" and the sky goes back to how it was before that change. The pill closes. Reminders the change took off come back too, so undoing a completion brings its reminder back.
Each sky keeps its own
A copy only ever goes back into the sky it came from, and the pill shows only while that sky is on screen. Switching skies never mixes one sky's tasks into another.
Up to 25 copies are kept, but only the latest change shows a pill. In practice you undo the change you made last. Undo is kept while the app runs; it is not saved to a file.
What can be undone
Completing a task, from anywhere: the bloom, the edit sheet, List view, the matrix, focus, the focus deck, the "you're here" window, the widget, a running actuation's ticks and "complete all", the screen-reader list, the outline beside the bloom, and "done" on a reminder when the task is in the sky on screen.
Reopening a task, from anywhere you do it. The pill reads "reopened “…”".
Also:
- deleting a task
- moving one on its ring, and moving one to another region
- retiring a task to the archive, and "sweep completed" — undo also takes those tasks back out of the archive, so there is never a second copy
- adding a node from a .ztd file
- a task sent in from another Zenith app
- "task it" on today's agenda
- paste a list
- what ask the sky changes — see below
What can't
- saving the edit sheet — change it back and save
- adding a task by hand — delete it instead
- "done" on a reminder for a task in another sky
- anything done inside the archive or the templates page
- opening a backup — it never writes over a sky, so there is nothing to undo
Ask the sky's changes
Ask the sky — Tasks' AI — makes one copy for each sky an ask changes. The pill reads "what ask the sky just did".
The chat then offers "↶ undo what the sky just did". It shows only while that ask's own copy is the next thing undo would take back in the sky on screen. So it never takes back an older ask, or something you changed by hand afterwards.
You can also ask the sky to undo. It takes back the newest change in the sky on screen, yours or its own, exactly as the pill does. With nothing to undo it says "there's nothing to undo in this sky." See Deleting asks first, and undo.
A task that refuses to finish
A node set to "complete only when the stars inside are done" refuses while any task inside is open. Nothing changes, so no copy is made. See Nodes & gates.
