The day brief
The day brief is the list of the picked day's commitments — anything on your calendar, events or things to do — written as plain words at the bottom of the screen. It appears in every view. On the year view, the same day also opens as a fan — the day's commitments spread inside the year ring.
The brief
- Pinned. It appears when you scrub or tap a day, and stays until a new scrub, a change of view or a double-tap. It never shows in the desk clock, or on the sky beside the docket — on a wide screen, the side panel beside the calendar (Gold).
- Header. For example "friday · september 18", with the year added when it is not this year. In another calendar system (Gold), it shows that system's date, with the gregorian date small under it. An empty day says "a quiet day".
- Rows. Each row shows the commitment's form (☄ once, ↻ repeats, ✦ yearly), its title, and " · ‹time›" if it has a time, all in its almanac's colour — the colour of the calendar it belongs to.
- Long days scroll with a drag, with no scroll bar. Sideways, the list keeps five rows and says "+N more".
- The journal line. "✎ write about this day", or the titles you have already written about it. Tap it to open the journal on this day.
- "view in". Always the last line: "view in", then year, month, week and day, leaving out the view you are in. Tap one to carry this date there, with its brief pinned. In a narrow column it wraps onto a second line.
Where it stands

Tap a row
Tap once to focus a row. It grows " ⓘ", its full time span, and a line with its place, its almanac and the first line of its notes. In the day view, the place and almanac stand on lines of their own and the notes show, up to six lines.
A commitment other people join adds who is coming: "with ana", "with ana & leo", "with ana, leo & sam", or "with ana, leo & 2 more". In the day view that line sits under the place; elsewhere it sits between the place and the almanac.

Hold a row
Hold a row for its menu. In order:
- "☰ view" — the commitment's page, on that day.
- "→ annual view", "→ monthly view", "→ weekly view", "→ daily view" — that view, on its day, with this commitment focused.
- "⇪ hold in the shuttle" — puts its share line on the Shuttle, the suite's shared tray for passing text and files between Zenith apps. The notice reads "held in the shuttle".
- "↗ share" — the phone's share sheet, with the title, the day and a link.
- "🔔 evening-before bell" — it rings the evening before: "“‹title›” will ring the evening before". While set, the row reads "🔔 evening-before bell · on". Tap it again to turn it off: "no evening bell for “‹title›”".
- "✎ edit" — the editor, for a commitment you have stored. A repeating one first asks "this one repeats", meaning the brief's day.
On a locked almanac, the bell and "✎ edit" are drawn shut and say "“‹almanac›” is locked — unlock it first". In the docket, a hold that stays still and lets go opens the menu; a hold that moves carries the commitment.
The fan (year view)
- Opens when you tap the ring or an almanac's body, scrub the ring, or hover over a body. It stays after your finger lifts, and folds back when you pick another day or change view. Only the face-on year fans. The celestial and astrology almanacs never do.
- Order. All-day first, then by start time, then by the almanacs' order in the binder — the page where all your almanacs live — then by title. The earliest is always the highest dot. What does not fit is clipped, latest first.
- Drawn. Each commitment is a dot at the end of a rib from the day's point on the ring, with its name and " · ‹time›" if it has a time. Names that would overlap wait until your finger is on them. With "reduce motion" on, the fan appears without moving.
- Touch. Move a finger in from the ring and each commitment lights in turn, with a note and a firmer bump. Tap one to open its page.
