Tasks, stars, nodes, skies, blooms & regions
Six words carry the whole app. Use them as the app does — ask the sky, the built-in assistant, uses the same ones.
Task
A task is one thing to do. Every task is the same kind of item, at any depth: a hidden top holds your top-level tasks, and any task can hold more.
Star
A star is how a task is drawn in the bloom. In the app's words, "stars are the things to do". What the marks on a star mean is on Reading a star.
Node
A node is a task that holds others — "a star that holds others is a node." It is the same kind of item as any task; it has tasks inside. Rest your finger on a node and its own ring of tasks opens. See Nodes & gates.
A node and everything inside it can be saved on its own as a file, to add into another sky. See Links, pins & export.
Sky
A sky is one whole Tasks file: every task in it, under a hidden top whose title is the sky's name. Each sky is its own file on the phone. You can keep several, and have 3 of your own open at once — any number with Zenith Gold. The tutorial sky and demo skies, which the app adds only when you ask, don't count. Bloom
The bloom is the rings that open where you touch, outward from your finger. See The bloom.
Two more words come with it:
- A ring is one level of the bloom: the tasks inside one place, laid round a centre.
- An orbit is how far out from that centre a star sits. 1× sits on the base ring, 0.5× halfway in, 2× twice as far.
Region
A region is a part of the screen that opens its own bloom, with its own top-level tasks. A sky can have up to 9 regions. 2 are free; more need Zenith Gold (Gold). Each sky keeps its own regions. See Regions.
