Icon Pack glossary

Terms specific to the Icon Pack. For suite-wide vocabulary, see the suite glossary.

• Icon pack — an app that carries a set of icons plus a table of which icon belongs to which app, so a launcher can swap your apps' default icons for themed ones.
• Launcher — the app that draws your home screen and app drawer. Only launchers that support icon packs can apply this pack.
• Apply / default icon pack — the launcher setting that themes every mapped app at once with a chosen pack.
• Mapping (app filter) — the pairing of an app's component name to an icon; a match is what makes an icon auto-apply.
• Component name — the precise identifier of an app's launch screen. Different app versions and phone makers can use different component names, which is why theming can vary by device.
• Feature icon — a Zenith glyph for a launcher surface (search, gestures, comets, and so on) rather than for an installed app; it never auto-applies and is placed by hand.
• Masking — a launcher forcing every icon into one shape (circle, squircle, rounded square), which can clip an icon's corners.
• Category — a named group in the pack's browsable catalogue (System, Zenith Features, Cosmos, and so on) used by manual icon pickers.
