Your Google account & Drive

You link a Google account once, on a connect page shared by every Zenith Suite app. A linked account is what lets an almanac — one of your calendars, a named, coloured layer of commitments — travel between your own devices through your own Google Drive.

#The connections page

Where it is. Settings › connections ("your google account — calendars · drive"). You can also reach it from step 4 of "make zenith your calendar" ("set up syncing") and from the binder's panel ("connect a google account", or "connected as ‹account›" once linked). The page sits over the sky, with "‹ back" to leave.

What the page shows:

• "connections" — Google accounts linked here are shared by every Zenith Suite app on this phone.
• Each linked account, with "remove". Removing disconnects it for every Zenith app. With none, it reads "no account linked yet."
• "what zenith calendar asks google for" — "drive files — back up almanacs and bring them to your other phones".
• "connect google" — opens Google's own screen, where you choose the account. You then see "linked ‹account›", "cancelled", or the error in one line.

What Google is asked for. Google's screen names "Zenith Suite" — these apps on your phone. The calendar asks only for Drive files, and only the files it made itself, plus your email so you can tell accounts apart. Black Syntax and Friend Castle receive nothing, and there is no server in between.

Connecting never takes away what another Zenith app was given on the same account. Nothing about calendars is asked here. The narrow permission to make a Google calendar is asked separately, at the tap, on the travel sheet.

#Carry an almanac in your drive

An almanac carried in Drive travels between your own devices and stays invisible to every other app. No calendar entry is made, and nothing appears in Google Calendar.

Turn it on. On an almanac's page, open "what comes in", then under "where else it reaches" tap "○ carry it in your drive". You see "sending it to your drive…", then the row reads "◉ carried in your drive". Your other devices now have it whole — every kind, repeat rule and colour.

• With no account linked, it says "connect your google account first — settings › connections".
• On a locked almanac, it says "“‹name›” is locked — unlock it first".

Turn it off. Tap the row again. It asks "take “‹name›” off your drive?" Its copy there and the files of its material — files attached to the almanac — are removed from your Drive. This phone keeps everything. Choose "take it off" or "leave it".

#What travels

• The almanac itself, whole, as one Drive file. Renaming the almanac does not lose it.
• Its material, as separate files, so only what is new, changed or removed moves.
• The people on each commitment — each name, and a picked contact's link, since the other device is your own. They are never written into a phone or Google calendar.

#When it moves

• Up — once, as the app leaves the screen, for each carried almanac that changed here.
• Down — when the app comes back, no more than once in 15 minutes, and only if something is carried.
• Newer wins. A newer Drive copy replaces this phone's copy whole; nothing is merged. If both changed, the later change wins and you are told: "“‹name›” was changed on your other device more recently — that copy replaced this one".
• An almanac fed by a phone calendar is not replaced, though its material still follows. A locked one waits until it is unlocked. Nothing new is ever made by itself.
• Held. Nothing moves while "nothing leaves this phone" is on. Nothing comes down while "nothing is coming in" is on. A paused Drive copy is not sent.

#Almanacs from your other devices

The binder's "settings" panel shows how many almanacs are "carried in your drive". Tap "look for almanacs from my other devices" to bring the ones here up to date and fetch anything else your devices left in your Drive. Each new one waiting there becomes an almanac only when you tap its own "make it an almanac".
