The dock buttons
The dock is the column of buttons up the left edge while a bloom — the rings of your tasks that open where you touch — is open. Top to bottom: ✚ add · • details · edit · move · − remove.
When they show
While a bloom is open, and not while you are placing a star. ✚ shows always. The other four show once a star is chosen — the one last under your finger. The node at the centre of the open ring can be chosen too.
What each does
| button | what it does |
|---|---|
| ✚ add | adds a task inside the ring that is open. A tap opens the add sheet. In "hold & drag", sliding onto it — or pressing it with a second finger — starts placing the new star live; let go and the add sheet opens at that spot |
| • details | a small read-only box beside the star: title, subtitle, note, due (like "oct 14, 3:00 pm"), "stars inside" (done of total), categories, repeats, status |
| edit (a small picture) | opens the task's sheet |
| move (a sundial arm) | moves the star to a new angle and orbit. It keeps that spot from then on |
| − remove | over it, the star is ringed and "remove …" names it. It deletes the task and what's inside at once, with an undo pill for 5 seconds. The stars left on that ring are spaced evenly again, except ones you placed by hand |
How to press them
- "hold & drag": keep your finger down and slide onto a button. ✚ and move start placing straight away. Details, edit and − act when you lift. Or press a button with a second finger while the first holds — it presses the button instead of starting a pinch.
- "tap & place": tap a button. Move makes your next touch place the star.
- "latched back" on: a touch on a button acts at once. Its ‹ and ◉ buttons sit at the bottom centre, clear of the dock.
Turn them off
settings › "layout & size" › "dock buttons" hides all five and stops them working. It starts on.
